  1. Blockbuster is the better deal between the two. Prices are about the same and BB offers 1 free movie rental coupon per week for in store rentals. That alone covers the monthly fee, get about 12 movies a month plus the 4 freebies in store and that's a good deal. The Netflix throttling issue is a reality and why I've cancelled again, funny how they never checked in the movie The Great Raid that I sent back over a week ago until I reported it not having been credited returned to my queue and then cancelled yesterday. Today I get an e-mail first thing in the morning that it was received in. lol Netflix plays games, when they quit playing games they'll gaint their reputation back.
  2. Thanks again ladies for the helpful information, it came in very handy. I went to Origins and spent a bunch of money but she's really happy with all the cleanser, tonic, etc etc stuff I got. Also picked her up the 'starter kit' of the Bare Escentuals makeup and she really likes it, so glad for the help ladies!
  3. They continue these practices because there are plenty of people dumb enough to continue to give them business. The only thing companies understand is the power of the dollar, keep your dollars away from them and they instantly start getting better at their jobs.
  4. Yes, definitely go back there and right then and there when you were there the first time you should have requested to see the store manager or manager on duty (if they use the age old excuse "the manager's not in today"). Explain to him/her that the toy was in the display marked 50% off, they are obligated to give you the price listed. If it's their mistake, too bad. If they give you a hard time, ask for the district managers name and contact information and contact the corporate offices in wayne, nj. I don't think you'll have to go that far but in case you do, go in prepared to go further with it.
  5. Well, let's hope Amazon does the right thing and takes care of you outnumbered. If not then post it here so we can all be advised of how they treat you, that also plays into other peoples purchasing decisions as well. There's a ripple effect when people get screwed by a company, others who hear of their experiences may avoid dealing with the company as well.
  6. I've caught UPS doing that on several occassions too, the driver takes the time to fill out the "sorry we missed you" note but won't bother bringing the package OR ringing the bell. Twice I caught the same driver doing the exact same thing, I was literally watching out the window for the truck and saw it coming he ran up and stuck the note on the door and ran off. I opened the door and he stopped dead and looked like guilty of being caught red handed, I asked him why he didn't knock and he said "I didn't think you were home". I told him "that's why you're supposed to knock, assumption is the mother of all f**kups, don't assume". He went and got my package, I took my time putting it down and signing his little electronic log book. The second time I caught him a week later doing the same thing, this time he bolted into his truck and I bolted after him yelling the whole time. He finally looked at me with annoyance at getting caught while he was trying to take off. This time I chewed his a$$ out, got his name and called UPS. Of course they never called me back, the CS rep apologized on the phone but that was it. That's why I avoid using UPS at all costs.

    TRU adjust price?

It all depends on the person you go to at the store, they may do so for you if you're nice. Can you return green tag items? If so then just return them and buy them again.
  8. Frazier, since LV screwed up the order that bad did you hand out any of the presents? If not then I'd send them back and get the money back, they only care about getting whatever money they can out of you even with a discount. I'm adamant about sending things back for a refund if the company screws up like that, it's the only way to hold them accountable. Sorry for your troubles!
  9. I would recommend a polite but scathing e-mail to Amazon, explaining your difficulty with this shipment. Detail all of your troubles, disappointment and aggravation and how they will guide your future purchases, do not let it sit with a standard customer service 'rep'. Get it to their corporate offices where it has a better chance of getting to their corporate customer care people. Explain to them in the letter that you want to cancel your Amazon account as you feel that A) they dropped the ball and you don't feel they did everything in their power to satisfy you. Since they don't seem to care to satisfy you as a customer, you're taking your business elsewhere. Then the ball's in their court, if they say the standard "sorry for your troubles, hope you shop with us again" then cancel your account immediately and shop elsewhere. The few bucks you might save on a future purchase will cost you more in aggravation as they don't care about keeping your business enough to do more than a $5 credit and you're better off. If they take care of you (as they should) then they may win back your confidence as a customer, it's all up to the business. It's amazing what a lot of businesses will do when they hear you will shut off your business from them, if they do nothing then I stop buying anything from them. They apparently don't need my business so I'll take it elsewhere, there's plenty of place to buy things online and B&M. I'd gladly pay more to another business than give a business who doesn't care about customers the sale.
  10. Maybe he did what I did and bought a ton of stuff at the Bath and Body Works big sale prior to Thanksgiving. I only spent like $80 and bought about 15 different bubble baths, shower gels and some body splashes. Should last her a while. That goes along with the VS Heavenly perfume I bought her, she deserves to be spoiled. :)
  11. Thank you ladies for the kind words, unfortunately I don't have any single brothers. Great Dane Mom, her skin's not in 'bad' shape she just comments about it a lot that it gets dry and bothers her. It's been better since we moved from up north down to Texas, winters aren't as cold here so it's easier on her skin. She tried the stuff I picked up for her from Kohl's last week and she liked it, it's a liquid base. She's been a bit under the weather this week so she's not been up to worrying about makeup much. lol She laughed when I told her about the sale at CVS, first she looked at me strange wondering how I knew there was a sale and then I told her about this thread and she got a kick out of it. I will check into the Origins stuff, maybe if she likes it she'll use it more often. We've talked about that before, I explained to her if she's having skin irritation she needs to moisturize every day and especially in the evenings. Only reason I know about this is from my time in the service, every night you make sure to take care of your feet (powder and moisturize if you can) and boots. Same with your face in harsh conditions, if you don't protect your face it'll hurt like hell. lol I'm going to also look into the Bare Escentuals stuff, isn't that the Bare Minerals thing I've seen commercials for? That stuff good?

    Kohl's

I would recommend to definitely e-mail corporate and the district manager if you can find out their information. Explain to them your frustration and how it ruined your plans for Christmas and why you and your wife are very upset, angry, disappointed to the point you will not shop at Kohl's again. The ball's then in their court to make it up to you, if they make it up to you then you're ahead of the game. If they choose to think you're like most American consumers and will come back, then do like I do and never shop there again. I do the same thing and believe me, explaining your side of the story and your frustration will 9 times out of 10 get you satisfaction.
  13. Thanks so much mstacks, I think that would be a great starting point! I'm not sure what it is about makeup but she goes through stages of wanting stuff better for her skin and then not caring and just buying what she knows. l just want to make sure she finds what she needs and is happy.
  14. Ok, I'm another one of those husbands who is doing the same thing this year except I'm needing some advice from the ladies here. My wife has had issues with her skin being dry and as the day wears on I see her makeup dries up as well, looks a bit powdery on the face (for lack of a better term). I keep saying to her she should look into other makeups but she never does, she sticks with what she knows. I did get her a bottle of this liquid makeup this weekend at Kohl's, forget the name right now but got her interested in it and will wait to see how it works when she tries it. Any advice from the ladies as to good, easy on the skin, long lasting makeup that doesn't appear to dry out? I have NO clue about makeup but would like to surprise her with something better for her skin, she seems to be a bit lazy or hesitant to try anything different.
  15. The stores around here were packed as always my wife and mother went to the stores and left a few due to very long and slow lines. I think stores would be better off beefing up their online sales capabilities and letting people buy stuff online. The stores who do that in the future will be better off than doing the in store sales, don't have to pay for associates to work more hours operating costs of opening up earlier and running later. Looking at how bad BB's site was doing on Thanksgiving day should show companies how not to run an online sale. Didn't get anything I wanted from the site and wasn't going to waste time going to the store and dealing with lines. There'll be more sales before the holidays hit.
  16. True, which is why I won't buy anything that was on sale for BF on E-Bay. There'll be more sales before the season's out and they'll be good enough to save some money.
  17. The stores will never tell people that they will not receive the laptop (or whatever hot deal that store has on that day), doing so would kill the line. Killing the line would mean they wouldn't get people so desperate to catch a deal that they'll buy something else they didn't necessarily come for, just to feel the wait was worth it. I'm amazed at how this BF mania makes people act, waiting in line for over 12 hours, fist fights and trampling people to get that deal etc. All that to save a couple of hundred dollars? It's not like they're giving away a huge dollar item like a house or a free Lexus. lol
  18. This is exactly why the BF deals will be found more online in the future, people will continue to get turned off by the mob mentality that people have over BF deals. I never go to the early deals, have no patience for lines and prefer to avoid those sorts of incidents. Can you save money at BF? Yes, you can save some money but with the frustration and waiting in line that goes along with it, is it really worth it? Knowing you'll be one of the majority of people who doesn't get that "sweet deal"? I'll hit some of the stores later today and maybe tomorrow to pick up some things that I didn't get online.
  19. Hi all, first time poster here and this is an interesting topic. I always pay attention to the BF deals, on the web, in print etc but I rarely bother with the BF sales myself. I find it interesting to see what's on sale but I end up sleeping in that Friday, almost always. Generally, I find little for sale that I REALLY want that badly on BF. We don't have kids so no need to deal with toy shopping and most of the deals stores use to get you into the store, end up being a bust from what I read online. How often do they offer an incredible deal on a PC or TV or something like that, you get to the store and they have like 6 on hand? Not worth the aggravation IMO because I would be super PO'd I waited to get into the store for nothing and would walk out without buying anything else (stores count on you staying and buying something else because of the time you invested waiting) there. I'm also not a fan of long lines, at all. I don't think there's a deal out there that could make me stand in some of the lines I hear about, I have little patience for long lines on non-sale days. lol It has nothing to do with not wanting to save money, I'm a cheap SOB and look for a lot of deals for things I want. If there's something THAT good on BF, I'll venture out but you won't see me standing in line from the night before to get into the store.
