mugs Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Well, it is about that time again.. Looking for some good deals on tires.. Anyone have any recommendations?Costco B&M? Just buy 3 and use your spare as the 4th... why drive around with a brand new tire in the back of your truck when pretty much anything will do for a spare?
hevnsnt Posted September 17, 2004 Author Posted September 17, 2004 whoops.. forgot to login.. That was me.
mugs Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Oh, heh... I didn't even realize you could get a donut for a Grand Cherokee, my dad has owned 4 of them and they all had full sized spares.
hevnsnt Posted September 17, 2004 Author Posted September 17, 2004 So is cosco the best place to get tires (including online shops?)
mugs Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I don't really know, as I haven't shopped around for tires very much. I believe Costco has stopped selling some of the lower-end tires, so maybe not. They also used to have a lifetime guarantee - if you got a flat tire they'd fix it or replace it for free. Not sure if they still have that, RossMAN could probably confirm.
Pliablemoose Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 If you want to try the online stores, the best ones are Tire Rack & Discount Tire Direct If you go to a B&M store, & if you're good @ it, you can negotiate on the price, even @ the big chains. Discount Tire & Sears will both pricematch. What's the year & model of your Jeep?
RossMAN Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 So is cosco the best place to get tires (including online shops?)When factoring in price, quality and warranty repair I'd have to say yes.
Big Smooth Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I dunno Ross, Les Schwab's customer service is typically unbeatable. It's good enough to get my repeat business even if Costco might beat them on price. Normally I wouldn't say that, but I've always had great CS at Les Schwab (they've fixed flats and rotated tires for me for free on several occasions).

Big Smooth Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Remember when UnixFreak (I think that's his name) over on AT made a site called f***lesschwab.com? Heh heh.
RossMAN Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Yep UnixFreak is his username, I remember that thread and his old sig. Ironically Les Schwab now owns that domain, they either threatened to sue, bought the domain or it expired and they snatched it up.
Big Smooth Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Actually, if I remember the thread correctly I think he turned it over to them as part of the resolution to his problem. I think they agreed to replace his wheels/tires but they required the rights to that domain name.
RossMAN Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I would have asked for a lot more than that. At least they resolved his problem.
