kelemvor
We are looking to get Ikea Cabinets and BF weekend might be the only weekend we can get to Ikea since it's a 2+ hour drive for us to get there. Anyone kow if Ikea is crazy busy that weekend for any reason? I don't know if they have BF deals or anythign since it's all just furniture. And if they do, if it's just Friday then hopefully things will be back to normal for Saturday and Sunday... Anyone know? Specifically at the Schaumburg store but I figure they would all follow the same basic busyiness patterns. Thanks.
freesia39
It's crazy busy EVERY weekend at Ikea. They do have BF deals. Can't pull up the 2012 scan, but I think for something like kitchen cabinets, it might go through the entire weekend.
kelemvor
They have their Kitchen Sale thing going on now through December 4th. BF weekend just happens to be the only time we can make the trek. We always go there on the weekends to that's no problem. I just wasn't sure if BF weekend woudl be even busier than a normal weekend...

mcwalker
I am a big fan of IKEA kitchen cabinets (if that is the kind of cabinets you are talking about). They are truly worth a 2+ hour drive.I wouldn't go there on Black Friday for that, but it might be OK Saturday or Sunday--suggest that you get there early. If you are working on kitchen cabinets and need to talk to an associate about layout, I think you can and should make an appointment in advance. kelemvor
Oh, we won't be going ON Black Friday, but will be going Saturday or Sunday. I hope to have most of the design done at home to make the appointment not take as long. They told me they don't make appointments and it's first come, first served so we'll have to get there somewhat early. Have to rent a u-haul or something to get it all home though. heh. dwc designs
I was just at Ikea this weekend. I had to return an item that was mislabeled and figured I would get there early. It is Super Busy early as the restaurant opens earlier than the store and everyone was packing in for the $.99 breakfast! I'm guessing BF weekend would have a little more traffic in the morning. The BF sale list at the stores are usually limited to a few specific items so you might not have to fight the crowd and get there super early for your items. Another option is to talk to them about delivery if they offer it in your area. They made a mistake on our order and we had to make an hour plus trip back for an item the was in stock, but they couldn't get it for us until the next day since it wasn't on the floor. They offered the option of delivering it out to us to save us another trip. So if you already know the items you want you may be able to save yourself a trip. Although I just like going so I can see the setups and get other ideas. Plus I like the smell of the cinnamon buns!
