BobbyDouglas Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Looking for the: Radeon 9600 PRO Radeon 9600 XT Radeon 9800 PRO Radeon 9800 XT I was at first interested in the 9600SE, but when I searched for reviews on it, it is has a lot bad reviews. Even ATI took off the 9600SE from their site! Ahhhhh!
Brad Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Bobby doesn't know the meaning of the word budget, lol. How about this one: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10378005 and then use this 10% coupon: http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84349019 You'll have to pay shipping since it's on order (once it gets in stock it will have free shipping, but the price could get raised) still should be around $122 shipped... Pricegrabber prices: http://gottadeal.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=2667356&blsrt=1
BobbyDouglas Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Not sure about my budget, it is whatever I end up having to pay. I just want something better than an entry level video card, but not a $400 card. I was hoping to get a card like the ones in my first post, except for around $89-$100. But it also must be worthy of a gottadeal post too.
Pliablemoose Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I keep an eye on Newegg's refurbished stuff & don't get in a hurry. Usually I pick up something decent from them @ a firesale price, determine it's screwed, sent it to the manufacturer for a new one...
BobbyDouglas Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 A little too complicated for that. You have to be certain that the MFC will send a bran new one..
BobbyDouglas Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Is the card at $122 worthy of its own deal thread?
bockchow Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 you can probably get a 9700pro in that price range from FS/FT over on AT. i got mine a little over a month ago for like $120. starting to miss my 8500DV, might have to pull this card and put back in the AIW. not enough room for a tv tuner card and i've only played like 3hr worth of games since i installed it.
BobbyDouglas Posted September 9, 2004 Author Posted September 9, 2004 If I get the 9800 PRO will I still be able to get a TV Tuner card?
Brad Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 if you have an open slot, then you can still have a TV tuner card.
RossMAN Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 If I get the 9800 PRO will I still be able to get a TV Tuner card?Like Brad said, yes as long as you have an available PCI slot.
BobbyDouglas Posted September 9, 2004 Author Posted September 9, 2004 So the TV Tuner card usually will not go in the same spot as the 9800 Pro?
Brad Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 no - video card typically uses your AGP slot, and TV tuners use PCI slots. unless you get the all-in-wonder cards, which have both components on the same AGP card.

twista Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=45&threadid=1391732&enterthread=y $120 for a 9700pro (i think a 9700pro is better than 9600xt and 9600 pro from what i recall) Only problem is the seller is new there and only has 2 post so u should look around some more. Your budget is 89-100.. add another 20 and your set. When i brought mine luckly it was right there acouple days after my birthday so i had enough.
BobbyDouglas Posted September 11, 2004 Author Posted September 11, 2004 Actually, I will have to wait until te 9800 PRO price drops. ATI is going to release a new mainstream card soon, so I will pick up the 9800 PRO when it drops in price (should be sometime around november). Right now the price is around $200, but I am hoping to pick it up for around $150 or below. Thanks for the find though.
BobbyDouglas Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 http://www.adosystems.net/ati9800aiw.html looks like the cheapest place right now for the AIW card. Is there a place that will alert me when a price drops? Let's say Outpost.com lists the AIW card again at the wrong price, I would need something to alert me ASAP about it before Outpost can make the change.

Let's say Outpost.com lists the AIW card again at the wrong price, I would need something to alert me ASAP about it before Outpost can make the change.Unfortunately the item is no longer offered by Outpost.com The only other two ATI AIW cards Outpost.com sells are the 9600XT for $149 after rebate and 9800 OEM for $249. I've heard the ATI Radeon 9800 AIW OEM is only $199 at local Fry's stores, I'm tempted to buy one myself. It would be nice to have a fast video card, DVI, and TV recording capabilities in ONE solution. Bobby, which web browser do you use?
BobbyDouglas Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 Fry's has the ATI Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder OEM for $199.99.The guy I talked to wasn't sure exactly what it came with though. They are also selling the non OEM version for $399.99 lol. I use FireFox [edit]The OEM version comes with the card only, no manual, remote, cables, ect. Software might come with it..[/iedit]
Brad Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 These OEM versions aren't the "Pro" versions, are they? Computers4Sure has the OEM version for $198.95 with free shipping. Use $15 coupon code LSC994 to get it for $183.95 shipped with no tax in most states.
BobbyDouglas Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 THe OEM versions are PRO, it is just the same card, but without all the nice things like cables/remote. Btw, you can get the 9800 PRO non OEM for $200.
RossMAN Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 [edit]The OEM version comes with the card only, no manual, remote, cables, ect. Software might come with it..[/iedit]That's a shame. Since you're using FireFox, try this: Bookmark a web page.Bookmarks --> Manage BookmarksRight click on the link, select Properties --> ScheduleWhen: Every Day, choose a from and to time and every xx minutes. Then click Notify and choose an alert.
