labgeek Posted November 29, 2005 Share Posted November 29, 2005 About a year ago I was looking for a juicer as a gift... The Jack Lalanne ones I looked at had so-so reviews. I ended up getting her this one - the Breville JE900. She's been very happy with it. Only downside is it is loud. The Breville is more than 2x the power (600W motor vs 250W on the LaLanne). It's also direct drive - no gears to tear up. Not sure about the LaLanne, but some use gears so they can get away with smaller motors. The problem is they use plastic gears and the gears wear out.
