Novac Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I had Staples Karma this year! I got there an hour after their opening. When I entered, I walked back to the middle of the store and an associate asked me if I needed help. I asked him about one item, and he gave me directions to find them (across the store) with no trouble. I decided against that item, and once I rounded the corner, another employee asked me if I needed anything. I told him that I wanted the 200GB hard drive ($30 AR, IIRC), and he winced. He said that they had sold them, but that he would look around. He went up front, entered their little room, and suddenly, he and another employee carried out a few boxes of that hard drive. He handed me one, and I heard them announce over the speaker: "We announced that we were sold out of the 200GB hard drives, but we do have a few remaining. Anyone standing in line that was not able to get one, please raise your hand and we will try to be fair in handing them out." I walked back to the middle of the store and a third employee asked me if I needed help. He was standing right next to the last item I needed, so he grabbed it for me. On top of those experiences, Staples customer service on the floor was amazing. Not only was I repeatedly offered help, but employees were asking people who were standing in line if they missed anything or needed anything else. If they mentioned an item, the employee would bring the item back to the customer. I could have just went straight to the line and had them get everything for me The only bad (laughable) experience was shortly after I entered the store. I overheard one employee behind the camera counter. He held up a compact flash card to another employee and said, "Do we have any of the litte ones, too?" The other employee replied, "You mean the SD cards?" The guy shrugs and said "Whatever. The little one." I decided to not ask him for help about anything.
ObiRich Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Have to agree that Staples was a good place to BF shop this year. I was there in line a little after 4:30, and was like number 25-30. About 5:40, the manager and a couple of employees came out and started to hand out tickets for the limited items. Could have scored one of their laptops if I'd wanted it. Got everything on my list. The only bad karma was the checkout lines were sooooo slow. I was in line by 6:20, and it took me until 8:00 to get out of there. That plus they wouldn't PM CC's price on the HP PSC 2610 (Staples price after rebate was still higher than CC's before rebate). Oh well, I still scored everything I went there for. PS. That $20 DVD burner is actually a LiteOn, and takes LiteOn's firware updates. Pretty sweet!
