doreen725 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Hello all, I have just moved and getting rid of all my old stuff. I would like a new cookware set....you know, pots, pans, etc. I want a set that is not heavy because I have nerve damage in my hands and I cannot lift heavy items and I would like something non-stick, no stainless steel. Can anyone make any recommendations? I am not a chef by any means, I just want a nice set at a great price. There are so many to choose from, I need some assistance in making this purchase. I am a full time student, so I cannot afford something expensive. Thanks so much!!

homedirt Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I like the Paula deen deal as well, but if you can hold out target will have a nice set on clearance sometime. I know sometime us vague but we got a nice set at some point kat year for like $35 it was well over 100 to start with. Otherwise I'd go with the pauka deen set.
happysunshine28 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) I got a paula deen pan that bulged in the middle and heats more in the middle. I got it to cook bacon (square flat pan) and now only use it to make grilled cheese since the heat isnt even. Bacon was burnt in middle and raw on ends. This was a couple of years ago so maybe they are better now. Weird thing is the pan is a heavy pan, I am shocked the heat wasnt distributed evenly. doreen725 it seems the pans nowadays are heavy. I do know that cooks essentials on qvc has stainless that is non-stick inside and is very lightweight, has a solid metal piece on bottom to distribute heat. I got a couple pieces and love it. Non stick hasnt peeled and I use those almost every time I cook. Bad thing is they are kinda pricey to me. Edited November 20, 2012 by happysunshine28
freesia39 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I actually advise NOT to buy a set - buy the pieces you want. You always wind up with a piece in a set you never use or could never use. Same with knives. I like T-Fal non-stick. Kohls has this set:http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/black-friday-2723-TFalInspirations20PcNonstickCookwareSet.html But it's not the same as the individual pieces I have (and they were much better when they still made them in France. I have one frying pan I found that was made in France that I'm hoarding until my current one finally bites the dust.) It's this one on Amazon. It is kind of heavy, but I always figured it was due to the size (12.5 inches is pretty large.) Sears will also have a set:http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/black-friday-14726-TFal18pcRedAluminumNonStickCookwareSet.html Just remember to make your nonstick last longer, do not use metal utensils. Ever. Hand wash, do not stick them in the microwave. And be careful when cooking, you can't really overheat the pan. Available now at Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/T-Fal-Initiatives-10-Piece-Nonstick-Inside/dp/B000063YA3/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1353390099&sr=8-3&keywords=t-fal
