I didn't say the apps wouldn't work (Kindle Fire is Android afterall). I said that you couldn't install the Android Market without rooting. Yes, you can sideload but if you don't have an Android device already it's going to be extremely difficult (not to mention trying to explain to someone how to extract the APK). So therefore, the easy answer is that you have to root the Kindle.

 

Either way - Amazon App Store is matching the prices.

Can someone tell me if this is OK. I have never download apps before. It says the following when I try to buy some of the games and I want to know if this is normal/standard.

 

This application has access to the following:

 

Your location:

coarse (network-based) location,

fine (GPS) location

Network communication:

full Internet access

Your personal information:

read contact data

Phone calls:

read phone state and identity

Storage:

modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents

System tools:

prevent device from sleeping

Those can all be pretty standard requests, it depends on what App you are interested in installing is.

 

For instance, a music player shouldn't need to "read contact data" but FourSquare would.
