Marcster Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Now through 12/15, the Android App Market is running 10 top-shelf apps per day for just $.10 each: https://market.android.com/ The selection changes daily so be sure to check back!
artesian Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 can i buy and download these from my kindle fire?
pinkchrome Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 As far as I know they will only work if you root your kindle. Otherwise you can't install the Android Market. The Kindle is an Amazon product so they only want you to use the Amazon marketplace. But Amazon Marketplace does 1 free app a day and some of them are pretty good!
peppysfireball Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 You don't have to root the kindle. The fire owners are reporting they are sideloading many android apps and they are running just fine. Check the amazon app store also, they were matching these prices last week.
pinkchrome Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I didn't say the apps wouldn't work (Kindle Fire is Android afterall). I said that you couldn't install the Android Market without rooting. Yes, you can sideload but if you don't have an Android device already it's going to be extremely difficult (not to mention trying to explain to someone how to extract the APK). So therefore, the easy answer is that you have to root the Kindle. Either way - Amazon App Store is matching the prices.
Fishboysmom Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Can someone tell me if this is OK. I have never download apps before. It says the following when I try to buy some of the games and I want to know if this is normal/standard. This application has access to the following: Your location: coarse (network-based) location, fine (GPS) location Network communication: full Internet access Your personal information: read contact data Phone calls: read phone state and identity Storage: modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents System tools: prevent device from sleeping

For instance, a music player shouldn't need to "read contact data" but FourSquare would.
Marcster Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Beautiful Widgets (one of today's $.10 apps) is really cool... Highly recommended.
emceemk Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 ..And thanks for your dilligent anti-spammage! emceemk

dtwdmaty Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Where's My Water is .10 today. That one has been on my wish list! The rest don't excite me - anyone see any they recommend?
Marcster Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 I haven't had much time to try it, but SlideIT Keyboard is pretty slick... I'm still getting the hang of it, but it's definitely worth a shot for $.10.
dtwdmaty Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Got the SlideIT and Flight apps. My credit card company is going to be bombarded with 10 cent charges!
Marcster Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 A new batch of $.10 apps were just released. I picked up Swift X Keyboard, MX Moto, Sleepy Jack & EZ PDF Reader. I already picked up SlideIT Keyboard during this sale, but I figured for a total investment of $.20, that I'd like one or the other more...
Marcster Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 It's the last day for $.10 apps. I picked up the camera app and a few games. This promo has been pretty cool, I bought a lot of stuff.
