Kindle Fire VS. Ipod Touch (in a kids eyes)

My DS7 has asked for both a Kindle and an Ipod Touch..he's had an Ipod Nano since gosh I think he was 4...and has done GREAT with it. We own an Ipad and an HP Touchpad already. He has a DSI of his own.

I will start by saying I am a HUGE Kindle fan...not so much of an Ifan..So maybe my vision of this is a bit slanted. So in your opinion would combining his two gift request of an Ipod touch and a Kindle into a Kindle Fire be an OK decision. I know that the fire would be bigger but he will not be allowed to just "carry around" his Touch anyways. It would be for home, on the go, long times sitting still, ect. His Nano can still be his "carry around" gadget.

So what am I missing? Opinions please :D

I preordered my ds14 one on date of release. It is similar to the ipod touch only much better according to all the things I am reading about it on amazon. I am over there in teh forums everyday. My son wanted an Ipod touch last year for the game apps and movies, but changed his mind later. He is very excited abuot the Fire. My oldest has an Ipad and he says it would be nice if it was cheaper, but for the price, teh fire is sufficient. THe fire will also play flash, where the ipod and ipad won't. I would get it preordered though. They are selling 50,000 a day and the availability of the k3 last year at xmas was hard to find. I preordered mine and pay 25 a week on it. It will be paid off the week it ships.

I just ordered the one for DH. I was going to wait until I had all the gift cards, but decided not to in case I can't get it when it is released. I have a balance of $84 left. ;)

I think it makes sense. My ds has an ipod and I was debating between the fire or a nook color. I chose nook color because he already has an account for barnes and Noble. since he already has a kindle account, I would go with that. Ipods are nice but too small to play games and watch movies imo

In order to watch movies on the Kindle Fire you have to have an Amazon prime account correct?

I am not 100% certain, but I *think* you can download up to 10 movies on the Fire and have them to watch at any time. I think the only reason you would have to have a prime account is if you want to have access to free streaming movies 24/7. I could be totally wrong but I think that is what I read on the Kindle message boards.

I went with Fire for DD 10 so that she could utilize our Prime features as well. I'm really pretty excited to see it in action. I have an HP Touchpad and a regular Kindle..but I want to see the Fire!
