mommyof5gand2b Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) Fender is the way to go. I teach guitar lessons and t hey have great resale value as well, alot of other guitars are garbage and will not stay in tune. Edited October 12, 2011 by mommyof5gand2b spelling
conj Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 DD got a fender. we ended up buying a starter pack locally... same price as amazon, and supported the local music shop. quality instrument, reasonable price, no issue.
mom2monkiesx3 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 We have done a Fender and it worked well. Amp will probally need an upgrade eventually if the kids really gets into it but its been fine for us. Like PP said the resale value is pretty decent too if they don't stick with it. I do think that you need to factor in getting guitar lessons for the gift.
peppysfireball Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I buy all my kids musical instruments from musiciansfriends.com. I bought my son a very nice electric guitar there for a very good price. When my kids needed band instruments I got them the same brand the local music store sold them for 25% of the price.
misstaken Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 We also got ds a Fender. I think we paid around $125 for the guitar, case, and amp. We got a good deal locally but I think the store where we got it and where ds takes lessons has a website...it's called Cascio Interstate Music.
