alaurino1 Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Hi. Does anyone have an opinion on the Philips mp3 player that Walmart has in their BF ad? I am looking for a mp3 player for my 15 year old son for Christmas. Are iPods really better than other brands? TIA! Ami
Jenniferharrison82 Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I have an ipod shuffle, but will be buying a phillips for my brother for christmas/bday present. It looks way better than my shuffle (which is only a month old) and holds way more music at 2 GB. My shuffle cost 99. and is only 512 MB..which holds about 120. So I wish that I had waited. Hope that helps a little. Happy Shopping.
jipy Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 iPods are definitely better products but you can let your kid start off with a cheaper player. I have no idea about the particular Phillips player you are talking about but non-ipod players have their own advantages, one of them being the ability to use subscription services like yahoo music and napster... where for $5-20 a month you get access to unlimited music that you can play on your mp3 player. for ipod the only options you have are to rip music off cds (which are expensive) or to buy music for 99c per track from the apple music store...
mrsbmb Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I found this web site on the product and it has me convinced to buy 3 of them for christmas one for my husband and the other two for my kids.. check it out it explains how the whole thing works. i saved the site to have after they get them. phillips mp3 player info link click on the tututorial section for complete set of information kathy
Jenniferharrison82 Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I believe the phillips in the ad was originally 160-180 dollars, way better than the ipod shuffle I was talking about.
