From the time I was 12 until 19 I keep a photo journel of Christmas sort of. On Christmas morning I would take a picture of all my gifts wrapped then on Christmas night I would put them all together again and take a picture of them. I was an only child and supper spoiled. My parents got me gifts to open on Christmas Eve then on Christmas morning I would get up and open all the gifts from Santa. Santa came every year until I moved out at 20

Now with the kids we just take pictures on Christmas morning. I try to remember they got. All I remember from last year is that dd was 2.5 and ds was born on Dec 20 so we wanted to make Christmas extra special for dd so we got her lots of nice stuff but her most favorite thing was Play Dough from the Dollar Tree.

I've learned my lesson so this year she says she only wants Santa to bring her a dog and a Barbie so that is what Santa is bringing.

Sorry to ramble

I bought a really cute decorated box a few years ago at Big Lots. It has Santa on it and we use it as "the wish box". The kids are allowed to write on a piece of paper what they want and put it in the box. A couple of days before I go shopping I take all of the "wishes" out and make a list. I then put the list in my journal and it is fun to go back and read those things that I write in there. I usually write a few notes along with the list about certain items. For instance when an item is hard to find or when a fight breaks out in the store over a certain item, I write it beside the list. When the kids read all of it after Christmas, they get a laugh out of all that mommy went through to get the gifts. They think I'm crazy but each one is excited about when they get to go to BF for the first time.lol

Every year my Christmas gift list is kept on my PC in Word. I can go back and open old copies of the list from years gone buy to see a specific record of who got what.

I also keep a written Christmas journal - just started last year - which is more like a holiday diary. I started writing in it on Thanksgiving weekend last year, but by mid Dec I never touched it again.

I am going to try and be better about jotting down our holiday memories this year because it really is fun to go back and look them over.

Maybe I'll start writing earlier in November - get my journal caught up on all my preparations and plans to date. Then moving forward I'll try to write in it at least once a week. :g_dance:

I keep a list for the year. I actually start a list of ideas as they come to me, and then I write down what I actually get them. Once I get their gift wrapped and shipped (if needed) I'll mark that on the list as well. It's more about organization for me than it is to look back and see what I've gotten for other people.

I started doing that 2 years ago. It is good so that I don't repeat the same gift to someone. Also, every year I know exactly who I've got to buy for. I carry a copy of the list with me on BF too. That way when I buy something for someone I can write it down so that I know I've already got their gift and don't buy multiple gifts for someone.:holiday16
