erh12275 Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I remember back in 2000 my mom and I got freebies from Kmart and Walmart. Also remember back in 1996 my ex and I went to WalMart at 10am and they were still giving away their freebie(cookies in a tin). Things sure have changed over the years.
gigit65 Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 definatly sears and biglots for the best freebies
copados1993 Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 anyone know what kind of specials Kohl's runs for the first so many people??? I sure could use an extra gift card!!!!!!!!!
phins_jazy Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Looks like it's gonna be sears again this year!! Woohoo!
saraczek Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 For anyone that has a Fleet Farm...they give out a really big stuffed Christmas Bear every year, they're pretty cool...the kids love 'em:p
miller205 Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 I would also like to say that I feel that the freebie thing has really gone downhill over the years. I remember one year I got a free tin of cookies at Kmart (the tin had Elmo dressed in a Santa hat on the front, I still have it) and another year at Kmart I got a gift bag full of 101 Dalmations merch (I think there was lip balm, a poster, a key chain and what else I cannot remember). Toys R Us used to give a roll of wrapping paper and I used to love the Norman Rockwell ornaments that Penneys gave away. I think KB used to give freebies too. I wish stores would start that again...
casbug10 Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 I never seem to make it to the stores with the freebies.......I think I'm going to try to get them this year....

And you know it doesn't cost them all that much to give that stuff away...but I think they stopped because they DON'T have to. I mean if people are going to come anyway....why bother w/ the gift to lure them in...kwim?
moekittykitty Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Sears $10 gift card line was packed to the max 3 minutes after store opened. Line started in rear of store where I entered. I bypassed that, knew exactly what I wanted to buy on special, got it, when leaving store, that line was still real longgggg! Not worth $10 to me. Was home in less than 45 minutes & had most of my Christmas shopping done. Hallelujah!!!!
Gporter34 Posted October 29, 2005 Author Posted October 29, 2005 I think every store should have some sort of freebie on bf. It wouldn't cost them much and it would be nice to see what each store would offer.
fairydustcrissy Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Last year was Sears for me. But, Kmart did a drawing thing where you got a card, and it would be one of several denominations. I always get 5.00, but know others get more.
Jenniferharrison82 Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 I got the jcpenneys snow globe last year, so cute, too bad walmart doesn't give out freebies. That is where I will be first.
coryan11 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I have never been lucky enough to get a freebie..Idont think our walmart gives out..our our biglots...not sure..never have heard about the free stuffwalmart has not givin any thing out in the 7-8 years i have been doing this
kjunea Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I've always done the Penneys snowglobes or ornaments. Proffitts (a local store that was bought by Saks then just sold to Belz) always does a Cracker Jack giveaway. You get a box or bag of Cracker Jacks and the prize inside is a discount or a gift certificate or a piece of jewelry (diamond rings, bracelets, etc.) Great because you are hunger by the time they open up! Since Belz bought them, I don't know if they will still be doing it. Anxiously waiting to see! June
kjunea Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 walmart has not givin any thing out in the 7-8 years i have been doing this A LONG time ago, they used to have coffee and doughnuts for people. Haven't seen that in a couple of years though... June
rosegarden Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Kohls has given out $10 giftcard for later in the weekend when you spend $50 for early shoppers. After noon, it usually goes to $10 off when you buy $75 That's what I remember the last couple years at Kohls
ryleeblack Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I never knew about those freebies. I must be out of the loop. LoL.
eve Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 bf and freebirs :) :bounce_fl :bounce_fl im pretty sure farm & fleet also does a drawing for a new car or something
miller205 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Actually, if I recall, Big Lots does still give out freebies every day of the BF weekend. I remember last year it was a little FM radio on one of the days.
Gporter34 Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 Big Lots gives out freebies on Thanksgiving Day and on BF!!! Those are about the only freebies we get here except the gift card at Sears, and the snowglobe at Penneys!! I always get the snowglobe, and Big Lots freebies. A couple of years ago Big Lots gave away dvd players, and the year before that they gave away vcrs. I got those and used them for gifts.lol
fairydustcrissy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 One year Rich's (closed, now its Macy's) gave out candy. On the inside of the wrapper was a % off or a GC. i got a $25.00 GC, and it so happened the set of Christmas china my MIL had was on sale. I ended up paying a couple of dollars for additions to her set.
Vickis3js Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 The only place that I've ever seen give anything away by me was Big Lots and it was some cheesey wall clock that I gave to an older lady who walked in 5 minutes after me and was all upset she missed it! Hopefully this years will be a lot better then last year! I never get to Penney's or Sears in time plus sears has way too many entrances I would never stand in teh right one LOL. Vicki

You can prob get a frrebie @ Big Lots on TD. I would say the chances of getting GC at Sears and the snowglobe at Penny's in slim, unless they open really far aprt. But from what I remember, Penny's opens around the same time as Sears. I could be wrong though.
