cthulhu Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Brad/Ross Do you think the price of the 1905fp will drop for BF? What no deals on the 2005fpw? Could someone who owns a 1905fp measure it's width for me please? I want to know if it will fit into my wife's desk. Thanks.

RossMAN Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Brad/Ross Do you think the price of the 1905fp will drop for BF? This is the 2nd hottest deal ever for the 1905FP, the first was $252 plus $20 filler items. In other words BUY NOW!
Marcster Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 cthulhu -- The price of the 1905fp is close to that of "no-name" monitors! For instance, OfficeMax has a 19" StarLogic for $269.99 this week. But the StarLogic only has a 600:1 contrast ratio, the 1905fp has an 800:1 ratio. Here's a snippet of what CNet had to say: "With above-average image quality and a competitive price, the Dell 1905FP is well worth the money. The 19-inch LCD retains the basic look and flexible design of its predecessors--though the stand feels a bit sturdier--and it offers the same height adjustment range of about five inches. It also smoothly tilts, swivels, and rotates from Portrait to Landscape mode." Cheap monitors tend to lack the ability to adjust for height, they rely on angle adjustment to be comfortable to view. 5" of height adjustment plus angle adjustment should be enough! Portrait mode is great for surfing Web pages (less scrolling).
cthulhu Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Thanks Ross and Marcster. I'll buy one tonight if it will fit in her desk.

cthulhu Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Well, I ordered one for the wife. That's one Christmas present down - many more to go.
minendo Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Might have to jump in and pick up a few more 19"
Marcster Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 These prices include handling charges? No, the handling on my order was $5.20. I ordered the 1905fp, and the Podium Coolpad as my "filler" item. Monitor was $275.30, Coolpad was $24.95 less 10%= $22.45 plus $5.20 handling, plus tax = $321.12. I just, and I mean I just finished setting it up (I'm looking at it now as I type this). First impressions: It comes with both the standard video cable and the DVI cable (so it is ready for the future), the monitor acts as a USB hub (two on left side, two on the back). Screen rotation is VERY cool. Make sure your computer's video card supports it if you plan to use it. The height adjustment is counter-balanced so you don't need to tight a thumbscrew or something. And the cord maintenance flaps in the back are a nice touch. Update: and no dead pixels according to what my eyes see with the help of this site: http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html
Marcster Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Update: If I wasn't already married, I'd consider marrying my 1905fp. I consistently use it in it's tilted mode. It makes the screen taller than it is wide -- Perfect for reading e-mails and web pages with out scrolling, great for looking at long lists of things. But because the native screen resolution is 1024 x 1280, there is no need to scroll horizontally while viewing the monitor in tilted mode. Double-check your video card's capability to rotate your screen if you are interested in using this feature. Most recent ATI and Nvidia cards will support this though.
RossMAN Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Marc, I bought a 1905FP for my sister and last I heard she loves it. It's a great LCD and offers a nice 3 year warranty.
