Guest DigDoug
How many of you are able to take advantage of door busters at more than 1 store? Last year was my first year REALLY doing the Black Friday thing and I don't think I could have gotten any door busters at more than 1 store. I could get some of the other good deals, but odds are, the door busters were gone. Do you have a strategy on what order to go to the stores? outnumbered
I do believe last year I was at three stores. The time before that, I think I made it to four. I was able to get doorbuster items at each store I went to. Maybe not everything on my list--by the time I hit Target (last) a lot was gone--but I did have some success there, if you call standing in line for an hour and a half "success." But last year I did great. Sears at 6 am, 1st in the door. Radio Shack next for the mp3 player I got my sister. Then...shoot I don't remember where I went after that. But I came home elated that I'd gotten everything I'd wanted.

ckmellring
you really need to team up with your friends or spouses to help each other get the door busters.
RossMAN
you really need to team up with your friends or spouses to help each other get the door busters. You're right, think of it as a team effort. If it's only 1 store then one or two people can handle it. Otherwise round up your family and friends
outnumbered
you really need to team up with your friends or spouses to help each other get the door busters.I *finally* have someone to do that with, too! One of my neighbors just joined yesterday as a referral...I don't know under what name so I don't know if she's posted...but she is totally into BF and is planning to go out and I sooooo want to team up with her. But where to leave my kids? Argh.
outnumbered
Now THAT is impressive!!!Keep in mind I live in the middle of nowhere, LOL. Now back home (socal) that would be unheard of. I'd have to be in line at 2 am and would only get stuff from one store, probably.
Gporter34
Mom and I always make it to WalMart about 3am, 2 this year, lol. Then we get out by 6:15 or 6:30. We made it to about 4 stores last year. Maybe more this year. We live in a small town where ALL of the shopping is close together. Thankfully we both live within 2 miles from there. About 1 mile from each other.
codeblue
I have gone every year with my friend and we usually can hit most. What we do is make our first stop at a 24 hour store, get all the doorbusters and are in the checkout when doorbuster pricing begins. Then we will hit the rest according to the best sale and divide the list and meet back at the checkout. It also helps that all stores are within a couple miles of each other. bargaindvdshopper
As long as Wal-Mart carries the doorbuster and it's in an ad, I do my shopping one stop at Wal-Mart. :)
vinit2cool
just get friends to go to other stores for you. I get everything on my list from other stores and they get what they want from the store i am at. We hit CC, BB, OD, and Target all at once (you should see us at checkout when we seperate everything to different reciepts)
Gporter34
We just split up the stores between myself and mom, and my aunt. Aunt goes to the stores all in one area and we go to stores across the street from each other so that we can hit as many as possible. She gives us a list and we give her our list for the stores she goes to.
lauralee
Last year I hit Kmart first@4 am, it opened earlier than Walmart, and I didn't want anything at walmart anyway. Then it was Radio shack, JC penney, Sears, then Walgreens. I was home by 8 am. Later it was Alco, then Ace Hardware. I live in a small town, these are the major retailers in our town. Big Lots just opened, one of my daughters works there, and gets a 20% discount. Only thing, she can't get the sale items on the first day. So I will probably make that one of my stops. Unless Kmart really beats the deals at Walmart, I will go there first this year. I usually go alone, but DH is going to the other stores for me while I go to Walmart. I do have friends coming from out of town, so they can pick up stuff for me in one part of the store while I go to the other parts, I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of fun this year. Ladybug Mom
We left the hotel at 4:55am with all 3 kids to hit TRU for 5am! The actually opened the doors before 5am, but we manged to get everything on our list as well as a friends list. It was so organized, all of the Early Bird specials were in the main aisle on palletts. We literally walked the perimeter of the store right back to the cash with a pitstop at the Thomas train tables for my 2yr old (this is where we got our pic taken for the local newspaper). Then we got to Walmart before 7am, managed to get a Gameboy for $39, after Walmart we headed off to Target, for some more specials and then to a huge craft Store I can't for the life of me remember what it's called (maybe Michaels?) and managed to get a bunch of Thomas stuff all for 30% off!! So it looks like we hit 4 stores before 11am with 3 kids in tow! I wonder how many I'll make it to this year without any kids?
Gporter34
I agree, lauralee, I think that this year will be great. I think the sales will be better than last year across the board. Hope so anyway.
bayhaysay
Tag teaming is really your best option if you need to hit a few doorbusters early. My sister and I will probably be doing that with some friends this year.
fairydustcrissy
I can usually get what I go for, but it really depends on who offers what. Last year Sears had the gift cards, and that trumps all doorbusters if they have something you want. I got my kids a TV for $58, a DVD player for 10.00. So this year is going to be interesting, as the sales seem to be better than past few. Oh, and I still want a snowglobe from JCP. Havent managed to get one yet, and been going for about 10 yrs now
elena_398
I make it to about 2 or 3. All the toy stores I go to are in the same vicinity. TRU, KB Toys, and Walmart. In and out of KB and TRU as they open at 5am. Then go right up the hill to Walmart. parking is the only problem, lol. I shop for the family by myself while my husband stays home.
