Guest Deals4Me Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Or do you have to work? Last few years, I've had to be QUICK cause hubby had to drive 45 minutes to work at 9.This year will be great..... Hubby TECHNICALLY will have Thanksgiving, The Friday after , and Sat and Sunday off. BUT I believe they will also be taking Wednesday or Monday off. The training group he is in will be deciding that. ALTHOUGH I cant believe he's in training for three months. BUT WELL worth it. BUT if my hubby wanted to work next year on Thanksgiving and BF, he would make 43.89 an hour..... I told him, WORK!!! MONEY!!! I guess thats whats nice about working right across the street from your house AND the 3rd largest health insurance company.... I am just sooooooooooo grateful for darren not having to work, but I am SURE theres lots that do, but How do you do it?
JazzMama Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Thankfully, yes!! I work for a small mortgage company, so this is one of our standard days off.
mommy2twingles Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Our office is closed Thanksgiving and the day after every year. Its great not to have to use a vacation day to get in on the deals.
mjmcca Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I am bummed cause this year i have to work both Thanksgiving and BF. I work nights so I will still be at work while you guys are standing in line at the stores waiting for them to open.
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 AWWW! I feel so bad for you! What time do you get off? You might still be able to get in on the deals!
MaddynAllysMom02 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Well this is my first year back at work since the twins were born, so I am lucky enough to work for their preschool, and we are closed for the four day weekend.................if not, I would have been taking the day off for sure! Cannot miss BF!!
elena_398 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Im a Stay at Home Mom so Im off for BF. Haha. My husband's office shuts down for Thankgiving and BF every year so I always have someone home with the kids when I go out
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I work at best buy, what do u think lolSo did my hubby a while back....yikes... He wont even talk about it....
elena_398 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Best Buy is nuts on BF. I dont even go there as a shopper. Thats one place I try to stay away from
marimacc Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I work 4 10 hour days, so I ALWAYS have BF off!
rockpzazz Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I'm not sure yet. I'll find out anywhere between 2-3 days up to a week before BF. Unless I ask off, but I want to see what the deals are first. I work overnight so if there isn't anything worth getting, I will work and get paid time and a half.
elena_398 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 My sister was told she couldn't get off this year. But she doesn't have to go in till 9am. She is still going to head out to a few stores as most open around 5-6am here. I will help her with whatever she doesn't have time to get.
outnumbered Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Dh usually had a DONSA for Thanksgiving weekend so that always worked out nicely. (DONSA = Day Of Non Scheduled Activity = military day off)
elena_398 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I don't know what I would do if my husband ever had to work. Fortunately they always shut down for a 4 day weekend. I guess if he did have to work, I would bring to my parents to spend the night. Dad can watch them when mom goes out shopping
bayhaysay Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 My sister is a govt. employee and she took of months ago for BF.
lauralee Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 The department at the hospital where I work is also closed for BF, but DH has to be at work by 8 am. This year, he wants to go early too, so we will take two vehicles,he will have ds with him, meet up at 7:30 so he can drop off ds, and he will head to work while I shop. My list will include anything for ds, I always take plenty of coverups so I can cover up anything I need to hide from ds (7y/o), since I don't have a babysitter this year. If he didn't go, I would just go alone and be back by 7:45 so he could go to work.
fairydustcrissy Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 DH works at Eb Games, so he has to work. But, since he is the mgr, he schedules himself to close. As long as I am home by 12 or so, everything is good. :)
jrsgirl8 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I took it off. I work in a large bank, but put in for a personal day. Dh is always shut down for a long weekend.
neesie Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I always take a vaction day for BF since I don't work in retail any more.
RossMAN Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Yep, one of the few perks of having seniority is you get first pick on the vacation schedule :)
NurseLissa Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I put in my request for black friday on Jan 1. 2 years ago I had to work the night before but someone came in early for me so I got off at 5am and shopped all day. Melissa
decafmom Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I don't work, so I'll have the day off. Well, I THINK I don't work anymore. If I could ever get the manager to call me back I might know more. I tried to resign and she didn't want me to, so we'll see. It's no big deal since it was just a prn job anyway. I graduate in May, so then I'll be gainfully employed! LOL
vonnyb Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Yep, I work for a nonprofit organization and this is one of our standard days off.
biomajor Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 yep--i'm off :) I'm also off any day that I decide not to go in as long as I call in time for one of the other subs to come in.
kryss Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Last year DH had to work at Best Buy (he was a supervisor...) and I had to work an evening shift. This year, we will BOTH be off, but unfortunately we'll be out of town for Thanksgiving!!! Which means we may not be able to get as much as we have to fly home afterwards (speaking of...I should PROBABLY find the itinerary and then call the airlines and make sure they are aware we have a lap child...my fil bought the tickets and FORGOT to mention the lap child!!!) Kriss
reportermomof3 Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I work both Thanksgiving and BF, BUT I work the 3 to 11:30 p.m. shift, so I can shop to my heart's content in the morning. DH also works BF, but will go in late so that he can babysit while I shop. I try to get back no later than 10ish so he can get to work.
