heather.elliott Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 I know i have seen within the last week a sale for a cat fort/house toy. Sorry i do not know what they are called exactly. My 8-year-old ds was given a free kitten. My dh says he can stay if he gets fixed and de-clawed. Just found out it costs about $300! There is no such thing as free!!! Anyway, i am looking for something to entertain this kitty, other than my skin and our new bay window screens. Any help would greatly be appreciated ..... PS I SEARCHED CAT, AND COULD FIND NOTHING. I SEARCHED KITTY, AND FOUND ALOT OF HELLO KITTY.
tinkrbel Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Petco seems to be the cheapest I see. I thought these were cute but maybe not what you want/need. The above link goes to main page which has cat scratchers and other condo things. The links below don't work:( $21.59 Trixie DreamWorld Vitoria Kitten Scratching Towerhttp://s.petco.com/Assets/product_images/4/4011905437514C.jpg $14.95 Leopard Cat Tunnelhttp://s.petco.com/Assets/product_images/0/047707101500C.jpg
tokanm Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Try target also big lots. Please think about getting your kitty declawed, not trying to start a war here but it is a horrible procedure for the cat and it is his/her only defense mechanism if he gets outside. I volunteer in an animal shelter and I have seen some bad things
Princess7915 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I agree on the no declaw. It's not removing the nails it's amputation of pat of the toes. If you provide enough proper places for kitty to scratch you will live in harmony. I have two kitties with claws we trim nails once a week very quick and easy. Neither cat has ever scratched anything that isn't theirs. The key is tall cat trees with Sizle rope.
Rose0426 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Try Petsmart or Petco if you have one nearby. They usually always have kitty condos on sale. You really don't need that though. I do like the scratching tower listed above. Get a window perch, cats love to lay on it and look outside, and if you can put it by a sunny window, they love to lay in the sun. Also get a scratching post some small mice to keep him busy and some toys with feathers on the end of them that you can play him. Do not get him declawed. We have 4 cats, 2 are declawed and 2 aren't. It changes their personality when you get them declawed and is very painful. How would you like to have your nails ripped out of your fingers? But do get him fixed. Check your animal shelters for that. They usually offer low cost spaying. Remember he is a kitten right now and will calm down. The best thing to do is over stimulate and constantly play with him. Good luck with him.

I volunteer in an animal shelter and I have seen some bad things Just wanted to give you a big thanks for volunteering. I help all animals in anyway I can, but I can not bring myself to volunteer at our shelters. But I'm out there preaching on spay/neuter and ALWAYS rescue/adopt.
Stowasser Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Oh how fun. In our area there is a low cost spay and neuter clinics all the time, check it out in your area, just do a search for it. Our craigslist lists them also in our area. I have to agree with others on the declawing. One of the meanest cats I had was one my mother had declawed because she was afraid he would climb the drapes. A water bottle squirting them will do wonders for scratching and cats that are getting on the counters or on say the Christmas tree. I found a little mouse with kitty nip that does wonders for entertaining the kitties, they love to flip and play with it. Definitely a post would help too, check out craigslist, they often list cat items that they want to get rid of.
