leefamily23
Well Christmas was already going to be thin this year. A week ago today we officially took in my son's best friend as our formal foster child placement. It was very unexpected, pretty much I got an "emergency call" at 6pm, he was at our house by 8pm and we held in our hand our expedited, renewed (we were in the past but stopped 2 yrs ago) license within 4 days. That being said he's 17.5 yrs old. I also have my son who is going to be 18 in 5 weeks. I have a few things left to get my son, and I'm struggling w/ what to get "Johnny". He has more clothes and shoes than you can shake a stick at. I am on a strict budget and need to get the most bang for my buck. Any suggestions on small- medium filler idea's? I did get him 2 bigger ticket items already (and Ipod and new cell phone). I just need more ideas. He asked for socks, 2 movies, 1 PS3 game, and a MP3 player for his music. I got those covered but need a few more things to catch him up to where my son is.

mgmckny
If he's been in and out of foster care, anything you give him will be loved most of the time. Older brother used to do foster care for teen boys, he unofficially adopted one of them (he was out of the system due to age then), but when he arrived he had all kinds of clothes but nothing appropriate for school, and he loved that we took him shopping to Walmart for the stuff he needed, like gym clothes. (long story but it was my credit card so I had to be there). If you are giving him some gift cards, how about a new wallet, picture of the boys together since they are friends, is he still in school, does he need anything like a messenger bag or if he's out in the job world, how about a padfolio that looks polished, especially if he is job hunting soon... Kibit13
DH said itunes gc too! :) How about his own blanket and sheets for his bed? Nerf gun for him and your son! :) With one stipulation, they have to use them outside. My Dad really likes his remote control helicopter. I think he has the AirHogs brand that you can find at Target and I think Walmart. Cash, so he has a little spending money when he is out with his friends. LOVE AND KISSES! He is very lucky to have you as his family. You are truly blessed. Have a beautiful Christmas!

Chevytruckgirl4
Maybe a personalized christmas stocking. I'm sure he probably doesn't have one of those for himself. Baseball hats or like a giftcard to lids.com. Comforter set from anna's linens. My 15 year old nephew loves hottopic.com so I get him a gift card or buy him a few things from their clearance section. Maybe a book about one of his interests. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

My family still does them and my Mom makes all of our stockings. Our first Christmas together my Mom made DH a stocking. She personalized it with his name, footballs, a football player, snowflakes and a string of Christmas lights. He had no clue about the stocking and it was so hard keeping it a secret from him.:) Christmas morning we woke up and he saw his stocking hanging, filled with presents and he was so surprised and so happy. He had the biggest smile on his face and he was and still is so proud of his stocking!
