dgmommie Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Looking for opinions here... My daughter (8 years old) has the DS for a couple of years now. She really wants the DSi, and said she will ask Santa for it if we can't afford it. I've put her off (she wanted it for her birthday, and I told her it was too expensive, thus the reason for the Santa comment). So, my question is this - is this too much "machine" for an 8-year-old? Specifically, the internet capability, taking and sending pictures, ect. She likes that it can take pictures, and I think that's the reason she's wanting it more than any other reason. She plays games on my computer via the internet (WebKinz, Build-a-Bear, and the like). Can she do that with a DSi? Any opinions from anyone?
simplydivine Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Wow!! That is a great deal. Too bad I don't need one ... lol!
simplydivine Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 My daughter (11) wanted it for the pics and the internet. She can still play all her old games, do the pics easily and the speed for games... she uses the laptop for that. Way too slow on the dsi
mom2monkiesx3 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 You can parental block most of the things on the DSI that is the only reason my kids are getting one they are not old enough for the unblocked versions of it..(BTW if you go this route set it up before giving it to her...it prompts you to do so as soon as you turn it on!) THEN she can grow into all it can do and you can slowly back off the parental controls
chartse1 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Tried putting it in my cart, but the price keeps changing from 119 to 149. Not getting it to work.
jbrawn26 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I think they changed it now, it was 119 earlier but back up to 149 now on all options
Venusaur Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 The internet is WAY too slow on the DSi. Feels like you're using dialup from 15 years ago.

Melissa Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I think they changed it now, it was 119 earlier but back up to 149 now on all options Sooo glad I pounced on this deal this morning!!!
lkn4brgn Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 You will not be able to play webkinz on the dsi. You can use it to search for data.

peppysfireball Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 You can preorder the holiday mario party bundle for 149. My son has been waiting for this and it comes with a 25 . gaming coupon.
busybeex3 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 It's showing $149 for me at 9:05 a.m. CST and the Mario bundle looks like it is $179.
siillyy2000 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Any updates on the price ? I'm still showing 149 at 12:30 est
FarmerFranny Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 It's showing $149 for me at 9:05 a.m. CST and the Mario bundle looks like it is $179. For the Mario Bundle search for 'Mario Bundle Orange' on Amazon and it should come up. The $179 one is not the correct bundle. Thank you to peppysfireball for the tip! :)
shawna queen Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Thank you so much!!!!! I just ordered the orange bundle!!!!!!!! Woohoooooo!!!!!
