jhaferm
Does anyone listen to Clark Howard? He was talking about these last week. One of the big papers, New York Times or something reported that a lot of people are being injured by wearing these shoes AND that it has been proven that they do not help shape your legs. I just thought I would post this. I have never tried them.
Cinnamonhuskies
I have heard that too but I wear them just for the ultra cushioning. Its the only only shoe I have found that can take the pounding of walking 4 miles daily on a paved road without making my feet sore and blistered. Other shoes I wear at least one, sometimes two inserts.
dgmommie
My friend's podiatrist recommended them for her after breaking her toe. The soft tissue around the toe wasn't healing, though the toe had healed. He compared these shoes to an "air cast", telling her to wear them daily until her foot was better. She had shooting pains into her leg, and it was very painful to walk. She said that she got the shoes based on his telling her to do so, and wore them daily. She is finally without any pain after a couple of months.

Shortness
My husband said a guy at work had terrible chronic back pain, and was planning on getting surgery. Someone told him to try the shape ups. Husband not knowing any of this asked him when his surgery was and he said he wasn't going to get it because he tried the shape ups and since has had no problems. My husband nagged me to get some because of my back, until finally I did. I honestly forget to wear them a lot, but I did wear them to a Special Olympics event about 4 hours of on the feet and walking, and I did notice muscles reacting that normally don't when I'm simply walking. Kind of a balance thing--like not only do they rock front and back, but also a little side to side. If you've ever tried ice skates for the first time, you realize how much your ankle and calf work to keep you on the blades---not as severe as that by any means, but how I can relate it.
