mugs Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Looking for a portable CD player that that plays MP3 CDs. No brand preference as long as it's decent (actually - I strongly prefer anything OTHER THAN Sony). Also, must take AA batteries. I bought one at Costco, and it took AAA batteries... don't want that. :)
mrn8 Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Any reason you don't want an MP3 player? I had a Sony and a Philips MP3 CD player, and neither of them lasted more than 6 months.
mrn8 Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Panasonic SL-SX450 for $29.49 + ~$6 shipping. Get it from Amazon remanufactured, and shipping is free. $29.98 Looks like a good price on a model they are closing out. Coby MP3-CD player $31.99 shipped. Choose to buy from Amazon.com and shipping is free.

I had a Sony and a Philips MP3 CD player, and neither of them lasted more than 6 months.Because I listen to audiobooks mostly, and I can fit an entire book on one MP3 CD - so if I go on a trip, I can bring multiple books by just bringing a few CDs. Thanks for the suggestions. :)
mrn8 Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 The 60GB Creative Zen NX is only $209.99 after rebate at newegg. That's a lot of audiobooks! I know that's a lot more than the CD player, but it will save you a lot of space and probably give you better battery life. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16855102123
i-bystander Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Or just get the 5GB m Robe for $99 or the 30GB Zen for $169. :)
