How many people do you buy for for Christmas?

About 23 family members and about 20 others including teachers and DS's youth leaders at church, and friends. So about 43, and I'm sure I'm leaving someone out. I also have to buy birthday presents for all 23 of the family members too. It is very expensive to be in my family!

31 friends/family, angel tree gifts, mail person, trash people and the ocassional treats for coworkers. This year I may leave out mail person and coworkers as mail person is retarded about mail delivery and ridiculously afraid of my shih tzu. Coworkers have never deserved treats and this year the infighting has just gone beyond acceptable.

I have my 3 kids and then aunts, uncles, niece, nephew, and grandparents. Oh yeah I also have my best friends 3 kids. I might do teachers if I can find something reasonable or find a good idea from someone. My BIL just got married a few months ago and his wife has 3 kids. We are not sure if they will come to the Christmas dinner or not so I may have to buy for them also.

So in all I have about 18-25, depending if I buy teachers and step nieces and nephew anything. My husband and I don't usually exchange gifts because our anniversary is Dec. 7 and we usually go out to eat and maybe a movie and that is our anniversary and Christmas....lol. Also if we see we don't have the extra money we don't buy for the adults in our families only the kids.

I'm buying for my family, which is very small. However, this year I'm teaching 4th/5th Language Arts, and I really have NO idea what to get my students for Christmas. I've never taught 9-11 year olds before! What do they like that's cheap but not obviously cheap! :) Edited by amberj365

I started to post a reply and lost track of my counting at 57... looks like I better make THE list tonight :)

Wow. How do you do it? lol

I forgot to mention that 4 of the people I buy for have birthdays in December, two being on New Year's Eve and one the day before. So that's a bunch more gifts I buy.

I'm still counting this morning... my list should be titled "People to Remember" as some get gifts, others homemade goodies, some just cards, etc. Everybody is counted - kids' classmates (goody bags, of course) and special friends, DD's fellow Scouts (goody bags again) and so on. By later today I should have my list made up :)

I shop for 12 (DH, DS, DD, 2DN, FIL, DH's Grandmother, 2cousins, child I babysit, and the Angel Tree (at least 1 child for each of my 2 children) I also have to do the shopping for FIL and DH's Grandmother for my kids since they have no idea what to get.

Good thing I have already started!!!

After thinking all afternoon and scratching my list down on paper and counting everyone up the grand total for people I need to remember this year is... 170. Some get actual gifts, others get yummy homemade treats and others may get just a card - but I still have to buy it all :) This includes family, friends, people at school, DH's work, DD's scout troop, GD exchanges and of course charity. I have no doubt, though, that the list will end up being pared down as I go. In some cases it's one gift for a family or group so it's not as much as may appear.

How do I manage it? Keeping an eye on here, of course! :D

I buy for about 18. I guess I'm pretty lucky - depending on how you look at it. We have a small family and some family that we are just not in contact with so that shrinks up the list. I don't know what I'd do if I had double that amount to shop for! But I suppose if you've always had to shop for a lot then you don't know any different and it's not a big deal.
