Golf Clubs..?

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

DH picked up Golf 4-5 months ago. He uses his friends old clubs when they golf on weekends. I want to get him a set of clubs for christmas...but have no knowledge about this stuff. Any help is appreciated. Also, do they ever go on sale?

Thanks Everyone!

Jen :D

I doubt this will help you much b/c I know nothing about golf, but DH & DS play. He was trying to explain all this stuff about buying the clubs but for the most part he was saying it would be hard to buy clubs for your husband without you knowing his preferences. Golfers can be very picky about what they like! :yup: But he did say their favorite brands were Callaway, Taylor Made, Titleist and Ping.

Target sometimes has them on clearance, I got a couple sets 75% off a couple years ago, right around this time of year, but once they were 50% off I think that I went to Target every day checking if they were 75% off yet, it's not all of the sets just some of them

Thanks everyone. I have been looking at beginner sets, which start at 80 and go up to 300. The ones he borrow are callaways...which are expensive! So will prob not get that brand. He and his friend only golf on saturdays or sundays...so am thinking a 300 set would be fine. When he improves down the road, then he can go and get measured, right? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034DI6MO/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER this set is what I am thinking about buying...

It's a good beginner set, which is all he needs. If he wants to get serious in the future, he can go to a golf shop. That set comes with a bag too that has a stand! The stand is nice when he's out on the course so it doesn't tip over. I like the bag that's like a backpack - even I could easily carry golf clubs!

My dh picked up a set from a acquaintance that was getting a nicer set and wanted to unload his old set. It is a great way to get a nice set at a cheaper price.

I personally think that if he is used to golfing with Callaways now, he will not be happy with a cheaper set. Check a golf shop for used sets or pawn shop..or even golf shops may direct you to someone who wants to unload a nice set because they got a new set.
