Metallica_Band
Hey there...I am looking for a laptop for a friend of mine...she wants to just browse the internet and store her videos that she takes with her digital camcorder...any ideas on what I should suggest??? The ones that I've found are all sold out...she goes back to Turkey in 8 days so I'll need it 3-day shipped I guess...that won't be a problem tho... So...any ideas on a reliable ~$800 laptop that has a large/fast enuff hdd/memory to handle her video storage and regular internet browsing??? Scott
Did you check out this Dell GottaDeal 45% off selected laptops that are $1299 or higher. $1299 * 0.55 = $714.45 A great deal on a Dell computer. That coupon code has limited uses though, so you would want to order soon.
Metallica_Band
it takes like 5 days to get it shipped tho...that's pushing it...leaves barely any room for error...I need something that is ready to ship and doesn't need to be built like the Dell laptops...any suggestions??? Mike
I would get a dell, but if you have to get one at a B&M, id go with the V2312US from circuit city. There are some rare cases (usually with E&A such as digicams) where the wait time is several weeks to a few months. If you want a good deal on a laptop, here are your two basic choices:Dell Inspiron 6000 for $1,022.45 after 45% off couponIntel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)Microsoft® Windows® XP Home3Yr Ltd Warr,At-Home Service, and Tech Support plus Nights and Weekends 15.4 inch UltraSharp WSXGA+ LCD Panel Dell UltraSharp Quality512MB Shared DDR2 SDRAM 2 Dimms 60GB Hard Drive 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability Burn CDs and DVDsIntel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps) Integrated Intel® Media Accelerator 900 Graphics 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (53 WHr) Compaq Presario V2312US for $779 after $200 mail-in rebates @ Circuit City B&MAMD Turion™ 64 1.6GHz512MB RAM60GB Hard Drive802.11g WiFiDual-layer DVD+/-R/RW 14.0" WXGA High-Definition BrightView WidescreenNo Ethernet (not sure if this is correct or not, very strange)I would go with the Dell which has a 3 year warranty (not sure about international coverage though). However you have a tight schedule, so I'd probably buy online at CircuitCity.com and select local pickup. I'd also take a look at the HP Pavilion DV1000/DV4000 or Gateway at your local BestBuy.
