Not certain what battery comes with this unit, but beware that according to the specifications, the 4-cell battery lasts 40 minutes and the 8-cell 80 minutes.

Good observation :)

If battery life is a major concern, the Toshiba Satellite A65-S1062 for $599 is another bargain laptop worth considering. The deal I linked to expired last week. As the Holiday Shopping season approaches I'm sure we'll see quite a few more laptop deals.

Another possible option if you want longer battery life would be one of the many reconditioned models at Overstock.com. Plenty of options from name-brand companies like Dell, HP, IBM, etc... Most of these have slower processors that use less power but are still more than enough for most any activity on a laptop. Use a coupon and save more. We'll have several deals posted tomorrow for laptops at Overstock, so stay tuned.

It is designed more as a stationary-plugged in laptop and not a true mobile solution. But the battery life is enough if you are like RossMAN and only unplug it when you take in in the bathroom :tongue1:

True.

Which reminds me I should remove the battery from my Toshiba laptop. Leaving it plugged in with battery inserted isn't good.

Nice computer for a parent / grandparent for email and surfing since they don't have to learn scary stuff like connecting the keyboard and monitor to the CPU, and they can use it anywhere without a computer desk.

Only bad part would be if it doesn't come with a restore CD (they don't say) for when grandpa clicks on a few "your computer needs optimizing" and weatherbug links.
