Amazon preorder price guarantee

Is it worth preordering at Amazon with hopes of them lowering before release or was this only really competitve at christmas? Would it be cheaper to just get release week at BB or Target?

Below is the price guarantee, which I pulled from an item page that stated it had the pre-order price guarantee. Some "bigger" items (anticipated movie & video game releases, for example) have their own special offers per retailer on the day/week of release, so it's really up to you as far as pre-ordering goes. Amazon usually saves a few dollars on the retail price, but sometimes an extra you can get on the day of release makes up for it.

For me, if I really wanted the item I would go with Amazon.com because I don't pay tax with them,lol. I think their prices are the same and have a chance of going lower plus they usually ship it so you have it the day it is released.

I recently pre-ordered the latest Lost season for DH. A few days after it arrived, we received an e-mail stating they were refunding us $2 because of the lowest price guarantee. So, at least in our case, they followed through.

Thanks, I'm in two minds yet whether to pre-order tru blood. They did refund me some recently for the new harry potter and it was cheaper than BB or Target for Bluray but since I only really shop Amazon for the holidays wasn't sure if they'd be as competitive year round.

I always pre-order from Amazon. I have pre-orders sometimes that are 6 months away. Almost every pre-order I get money back since the price goes down. I have several books on pre-order for DS for next Xmas that are coming out between March and September 2010.
