lakj98 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I finally finished my shopping this morning. Made sure all of the gifts were even between all four kids. My mom came over and helped me wrap for hours today. SO we got allmost all of the wrapping done. Now my in-laws came over about an hour ago and gave me $500.00. Ask me to go shopping for my kids cause they don't know what to get them. I really don't mind, but now I dont know what ot get them either. I have bought everything from their lists except pillow pets and I can not seem to get these right now. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my hair done. Wednesday I have an appointment to get an ultrasound and then a dr appointment. So if I do find time to shop I would really like to be able to go in and get what I need and get out. Anyone have any gift ideas. My kids are 15, 9, 6, snd 3. Thanks so much.

ShoppingChick13 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Ask your in-laws if it is okay to buy the kids a family gift or something similar and open a savings account for each of them and deposit $100 in to their accounts
Elmck Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Trampoline with enclosure, bikes, season passes to a nearby theme park or other activities in your area. What are some of thier interest. Boys or Girls? What are they getting already?
lakj98 Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 My in laws want all of the money spent on gifts. They already told me that. They like for the kids to have stuff to open there. They have 8 other grandkids and they will all be getting toys etc so they want them all to have stuff to open. The three oldest already have a digital camera and my youngest has a kid type digital camera. They all have new bikes that they just got over the summer. They have a playstation 3 and two wii's. No interest in an Xbox 360. We have a trampoline with enclosure. My oldest (15) is a girl 9 yr old boy, 6 yr old girl, and 3 yr old boy. The only thing my boys are really into right now is wrestling. I think they have every wrestling toy on the market right now. My youngest DD loves american girl dolls. She has two and I already got her the twins for Christmas. She wanted Kit. I called AG to see if they do overnight shipping. They do, but Kit is on backorder till jan 8. Figures.

dgmommie Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I had no idea how popular the pillow pets are! I looked online for you and they seem to all be out of stock. What a shame! We have a mini-store in the mall and they have a lot of them. All of my kids got them last year. Very soft and very cute.

lakj98 Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Thanks for all of the ideas. I talked with DH last night. He thinks I should get DS9 the Tony Hawk game for the wii. Not sure he will like it, but if not he can take it back after Christmas and pick something out himself. For DD6 he wants me to give her the AG dolls we bought from his parents and order the one on back order to give her when it comes in. I am not going to do that as that was one of her big gifts from Santa. So I may just go buy her a few outfits from Justice or something. Still not sure yet. DS3 he says we should get him some educational toys. I thought about getting him a leapster 2. Anyone have it already? Is this good for 3 year olds? Then I can get him a few games to go with it. DD15 I am just going to get her some clothes and maybe some make-up.
pottsie66 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 a weekend get awayI second this, too. You could wrap up a small item for each one of them that they would need or want for the getaway and wrap up a picture of where you are going in a big box for all of them to unwrap. I'm sure everyone would enjoy a break in February whenever you get the winter blues plus it makes for great memories, which are priceless!!

He had a rough time with it -- but that could be related to the game DH got him (the Cars game -- has letters and spelling in it...which for him was tough. He's just not able to play it, but has a tough time still, when playing on his own) There may be games geared towards the younger kids...we never looked. What about Geotrax?? We also gave DS4 those when he was 3 and they have become SUCH a big hit in our house.

I'm sure everyone would enjoy a break in February whenever you get the winter blues plus it makes for great memories, which are priceless!! I know they want gifts for them to open, too- but I LOVE doing this!!! We have more fun on trips that with toys that sit in the closet and get tossed the next year. It's easy to get caught up in the gift giving chaos, but how many of them actually get used? A few years ago, we got the kids a weekend to the indoor waterpark in Branson. The weekend we went was cold as heck, and we didn't realize that you had to go outside (quite a ways) to get in and out of the waterpark. We froze our butts off, but the kids still talk about it. They don't even remember what someone got them last year. This year, mom got us a new tent, camp stove, and some other camping equipment. It will be a gift that we always have a ton of fun with!!! The kids were both finally big enough to start taking to our hidey hole in the wilderness last summer and we had a blast.
left210 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Thanks for all of the ideas.I talked with DH last night. He thinks I should get DS9 the Tony Hawk game for the wii.Our DS just got this for his 9th birthday two weeks ago and he really likes it so I think this would be a good gift for him.
bripoe Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I have 16 and 13 year old girls and a 3 year old boy. FOr the girls we bought ipod nanos and a dock/alarm clock for it. The 16 year old wanted the Instyler (hair straightener I think) and I bought that. The 13 year old wanted a heated mattress pad so thats what she got. Then both got scrapbooking stuff. The 3 year old got Black and Decker Tool bench and tools, the Imaginext Space Shuttle, and Handy Manny Motorcycle (only because I told him it wasnt under the tree and he said Santa is wrapping it and bring it) We have geotrax too.........love them. Now they have it for the Cars Movie too.
