asmara Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) BestBuy has some decent prices on Sony Bravia TV combos... and interestingly the prices are cheaper in-store than online. You can see the packages online at: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/TV-Video/Televisions/abcat0101000.c?id=abcat0101000 Look for the ones listed under "Hot TV Deal of the Week." I purchased the W-class 46" model today for $1099 ($1179 with tax). It includes the television, a 120 GB PlayStation 3, choice of 1 of three featured Sony PS3 games, and choice of 1 of three featured Sony BluRay disks. I got the TV ($1300 regular), PS3 ($299), Uncharted 2 ($60), and Taking of Pelham 123 ($20?). Total again was $1099 in-store. Online package listed at $1290. I would have bought the PS3 for my kids, and Uncharted 2 is one of the top-selling PS3 games this year on Amazon, so if I consider this worth $350, then this brings the TV to about $850! I think the packages end this weekend, possibly December 5th. Includes free delivery, also. This is also much cheaper than the TV/PS3 combo on sonystyle.com, which is $1349 there without the game or disc. Edited December 4, 2009 by asmara revised sale end date
snausages Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Thanks OP! I had been thinking about this deal too. I read some mixed reviews about the TV having some problems on bestbuy.com customer reviews. Will you kindly post your own experience after you have had a chance to test out the tv a bit? If everything is good, I will probably jump on it too! Oh and thanks for the heads up that it is cheaper than online...as I almost would have ordered it online! :) Does the in-store purchase also qualify for free delivery too? TIA!
wild4mn Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 They also have a cheaper deal for a 42" plasma, xbox 360 elite w/2 games, and the new Avatar game for $699. I don't know much about the TV but the price is right. Considering the xbox and the games would sell for about $360 that is a cheap tv.
asmara Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 An update... Best Buy this week has expanded the Sony package sales! And some are even cheaper now. Last week in store, I paid $1099 for the W class. Now the V class is packaged for just $950. I'm seriously considering switching from the W to the V to save the extra $150. I purchased in-store, and yes, it came with free delivery. It hasn't been delivered yet, though. It appears the V actually has better actual contrast, but lacks the internet capabilities of the W class. But with the PS3, you can stream the same internet, so you don't need it on both the TV and PS3... so I really don't need the W. I'll update with the final decision... The site is: www.bestbuy.com/sonytvps3. But don't forget to check your store. It could be cheaper. My store had the W for $1099, not $1290.98 listed below. If you scroll down below the video and below "follow these steps," click the link that says, "See the savings based on the HDTV that you choose." It will show: 46" Class V5100 (sku #9223805): $1,599.99 TV + $299.99 PS3 System + $59.99 PS3 Game + $29.99 Blu-ray Movie = $1,989.96 Regular Price - $610 TV Savings - $428.98 Package Savings = $950.98 Package Price 46" Class W5100 (sku #9343105): $1,699.99 TV + $299.99 PS3 System + $59.99 PS3 Game + $29.99 Blu-ray Movie = $2,089.96 Regular Price - $370 TV Savings - $428.98 Package Savings = $1,290.98 Package Price

TIA!I looked at the reviews on cnet.com and thought for the value of this combo, the price is hard to beat. The same reviewer on cnet rated the V and W 3.5 stars. The V actually rated a bit better for brightness/contrast, but lower for features, because it lacks the internet capability. Both compared really favorably to the XBR. The main criticism is that the dark blacks tend to show shades of dark blue. They conduct their tests in completely darkened test rooms, so I'm hopeful I won't notice that in our normal living room. Otherwise they both rated nicely for shadow detail. At $950 for the pkg, that really makes the V-class TV value at about $600-$650, and the W $750-800. I've never seen Sony that price.
civiclover88 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) A couple of months ago, BB did this deal but with a Bluray surround sound system. I got the 40" W series. I absolutely love the items. I put the surround sound in my living room and the LCD in the bedroom. The W series is better than my 46" LCD in the living room! I would have waited for this, however, I already have two PS3's. Edited December 8, 2009 by civiclover88 spelling mistake
