I'm thinking it's a good base laptop for the kids. . . they don't need anything fancy and I can always add memory if they need it.

no, it definitely was the CQ model...and the base configuration was 329.99, because the only thing the guy wanted was the $5 media card reader on it to make it 334.99 and it had a free upgrade to a 250GB HD and a free upgrade to 4GB ram. I think it was actually sat night that I was on hp's site looking at it.

and dang, that hp site is really slow right now...times out frequently as well.

I just ordered this one...thanks for the info! I took it all standard except I added more memory. This is a Christmas gift for my 12 year old daughter. The only bummer was after tax and shipping it ended up being a little over $400.

Oh and I wanted to add that the HP website has gone down at least 2 times already today due to Cyber Monday shoppers so I called the 1-800# and actually ordered from a super nice and helpful tech! :) I waited about 5 minutes before someone answered but in the end it was worth it!
