speeddiva
I need some stocking hooks that hold alot of weight...I was looking at these, they're supposed to hold up to 15 lbs:http://www.sturbridgeyankee.com/product.asp?pn=60137&sid=FROOGLE&EID=FR60137&bhcd2=1258116182 http://www.sturbridgeyankee.com/images/250/60137.jpgbut I don't wanna pay $50 (I need 5). Has anyone seen anything like them in stores anywhere?? Our mantle has a small lip around the edge so the ones with the weighted bottoms don't work well and the weight of the stockings pulls them right off the fireplace. TIA! sassyaztec
We have the same problem with the holders tipping over and with little kids, I'm freaked that the heavy holders will fall on them. No fun. I went the cheap route and bought those 3M hooks that stick to walls and pull off. I hope I'm making sense. I use them for EVERYTHING. I got the large ones for our stocking and they worked really well, pulled off with no damage after the holidays. I also used smaller ones for our door wreath. They work really well. They work really well.I used the same thing last year! I was also afraid of the big, heavy stocking holders falling on them and with most fireplaces, you have a ledge, smooth part then the actual fireplace. I bought the 3M hooks and placed them on the smooth part, right under the ledge and worked great! I will do that again this year.
Jannabear
If you are using them on brick (like on a fireplace)...BrickClips are FANTASTIC!!!
speeddiva
Thanks for the suggestions....I looked at the 3M hooks at WM yesterday and I don't think they'll work on my fireplace My mantel is very decorative and if I put them on the 'flat' surface under it they'll hang in the fire I may be able to stick them flat on the top though so if all else fails, I'll try that! AngeP
Great ideas, thanks for sharing. I too have the problem w/ my 3 year old pulling the stockings down - which were hung by the big weighty hooks. Thank God she was not hurt by the weight.
