If you can remember, what made you stop believing in Santa & how old were you?

My father was a social worker for the State of New Hampshire when I was little, and when I was about seven he took me to a party his office was throwing for underprivileged and/or abused and neglected kids. I saw their faces and realized that the gifts they got at that party were probably the only ones they would get at all for Christmas. When I said to my father that I knew the truth--that there was no Santa Claus--he smiled sadly and said that Santa is in each one of us: otherwise there wouldn't have been a party for those children in the first place. The guy in the red suit is just there to remind us to look inside ourselves for the spirit of giving.
