  1. I wish I would have known this was good stuff, I saw TONS of it at Big Lots today on the cheap.
  2. My CL rule is "the first to put money in my palm, gets the item".
  3. Please, I beg you, don't buy this! I have twin 7 yr old boys and you would be surprised at the crazy places those marshmellows get lodged. You don't find them til the ants do.
  4. If I get a Justin Timberlake, I'll worry about a lint brush later.
  5. Anyone want to trade a used lint brush for Justin Timberlake?
  6. Yep. I buy for DH's Step Monster and Dad, so that counts right? Also buying something for one of my DS7's teachers and I can't stand that venemous woman.
  7. Yeppers! These are actually really good. DH uses them at the gym and loves them. I'm picking up some for my kids' iPods. The bud style are too big for their little ears.
  8. Also, try calling your bank. A lot of institustions have discounted tickets for members. My husband gets very deep discounted tickets through the hospital he works at so, might call there and see if they offer them. Good luck!
  9. Congrats! I had a simlilar (kinda) experience with them 2 Christmas's ago. I ordered 2 laptops from them on BF, had alot of shipping and ordering problems. Things got so mixed up that they ended up sending me a third laptop. When I called the HQ, they said just keep it for the trouble, and they even sent me 2 $100 GC's! When OD messes up, they mess up bad, but when they make amends, they do it with style.
  10. Thank you so much! My boys play the longer games that save progress. We have tons on 2GB cards floating around so I'm glad I don't have to buy specific ones.
  11. I have a question in the same lines. I"ve seen Wii specific cards, but will a regular SD card work?
  12. Give it to her! Just because she is a Pastors wife doen't mean she isn't a red blooded woman. She'll probably be grateful that you aren't treating her like a "pastors wife". This coming from the DIL of a pastor.
  13. Maybe pick up a cheap tool belt and put it in one of the pockets? Maybe a cheap pair of Vice Grips and have the card be gripped in it?
  14. These are a HUGE hit at our house, and our friends house, and their cousins house... well, you get the idea! Just make alot, they go fast! http://thepioneerwomancooks.com/2007/07/bacon-wrapped_j.html
  15. Here is the upgrades on the XTi. I'm not trying to make you buy a more expensive camera, I'm just offering you the advice that you asked for. Since I haven't been in the market for an XTi, I haven't been keeping track of them, but there are deal prices listed throughout the thread. In the end the choice is yours. New 10.1 effective Megapixel CMOS sensor (versus 8.0 on the Rebel XT) New dust reduction system Large 2.5" LCD display (versus 1.8" on the XT) No more LCD info display (the main LCD is used instead) 9-point autofocus system (versus 7-point) Can now take more shots in a row in burst mode (27 vs 14 JPEG, 10 vs 6 RAW) New Picture Styles feature, first seen on the EOS-5D and 30D Information from DCRP Review.
  16. Sorry, this weekend has been busy! If the hundred or so extra bucks is feasible for your budget, I'd take the same route that Kahleeb did below. The XTi will allow you to shoot your kids sports (in time) at a higher fps. The extra AF points are great to have also. I think the XTi would be a great long term camera for you and your family. You can grow with it, and it can grow with you.
  17. I sacrifice alot of photo jobs. I get tons of requests for shoots that day because everyone has family in town. I have to pass them up or schedule them on Saturday though. And sleep. Lots of it.

  19. LOL! I would totally get the body with the kit 18-55mm lens to begin with. Play with it for a while. If you want a longer distance and don't want to shell out a whole lot more, go for the 75-300. That will cover you for normal outdoor shooting like at the zoo, playground, soccer game stuff like that without flash. With onboard flash you can still get good shots inside in low light, but you may want to eventually but a hot shoe flash for greater control. Any lowlight night time shots, you are going to want a faster lens. Something with 2.8 aperture or higher, now by higher I mean a lower number. Crazy camera stuff. If you are just starting out and learning, you should be just fine with those. Just be prepared that when you want a higher quality lens with a faster aperture, you are going to be shelling out more than you paid for the camera most likely. Tommy suggested a lens earlier that I had overlooked even though it sits on one of my backup bodies all the time. The "thrifty fifty". It's an amazingly sharp lens with a very fast 1.8 aperture. A great portrait lens. Only downsides, it has a cheap build and a fixed focal range. In other words, foot zoom only. Coming in at under $70 though, it is well worth it. I really hope this helps some.
  20. True that. I've rented a few of my bigger lens purchases before buying.
