If your son wants to jump it off the curb, etc. then you want the aluminum one (weight). The steel one won't be any sturdier - it will just be heavier - and it will rust. The aluminum version won't rust, so he can leave it out in the rain/sprinklers, etc. and you won't need to give him a beating. Everyone wins!
