I've owned one for 2 years and I'd say it worth the extra money. I love it. Yes, it works on carpet and tile, there is an knob on the base to switch between carpet and bare floor. Heading out today to scope out the patio furniture. Planning to put in a pool so some new patio furniture would be a great accessory :)

If you need a convertible that rear faces and forward faces, I would suggest the Evenflo Triumph Advance LX Convertible Car Seat - Harbortown http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/414b6oBGTqL._SL500_AA280_.jpg If you watch it closely, it often goes down to $112. It is similar to the Titan recommended above but will last much longer because it has higher harness slots. Avoid the 3-in-1 models because they are not good at serving 3 purposes - buy a good convertible now and then get a booster when time comes.

I believe you have to convert your files to MP3 in order to make iTunes work on anything other than an Ipod. I'm not sure how easy it is - I dont use iTunes.

You can usually find a variety of baby toys at Big Lots for a good price. Also, watch the clearance endcaps at Target.

It will probably be hard to find a deal on one. The only time I've seen a deal on one is when they went on clearance at Target after Christmas. It is definitely worth what you pay for it though.

The t-shirts I got out of the infants/toddlers section have a green striped tag on them that say "Tee" and in the corner it has the DPCI and $3.99. The tag on the actual shirt is also green and has little eggs all over it. HTH.
