If you can't do the adjustment, you can just repurchase the item on Friday and then return it with the full price receipt.

At our local Best Buy employees are always wandering the line and very good at spotting those friends and family members who suddenly appear. They have no problems with sending them to the back of the line. I would point it out to those employees when it happens.. they just might surprise you!
