  1. Staples in Chester, NJ was great. We got everything that we wanted except for the laptop, but it was well worth the trip. I think we ended up buying 5 tomtoms because everyone wanted a GPS for Christmas this year, and you couldn't beat the price. Staples has trumped Best Buy for me because I can show up at 6 and be 15th in line, not 1500th in line like Best Buy. Two thumbs up!
  2. I gotta tell you... I'm not a very happy person right now in regards to Best Buy.

So, I decided tonight to check out my order status, and when doing so came across the "2 Day Cyber Monday Sale".

I had order the Insignia 27 inch TV for a price of 600.00 + 100.00 service plan + 25.00 tax = 725.00 for the whole bang.

I click on the ad for the sale and what do I see...

Insignia 32 inch HDTV for the same... exact... price....

So, I called up Best Buy and told them that I wanted to cancel my order, so that I could order the 32 inch that was on sale for the same price. The operator asked me for the SKU number for the 32 inch tv, and I didn't think anything of it.

He cancelled my order and I went to get the 32 inch TV.

I placed it in my cart and went to check out...

AND THE PRICE JUMPED UP BY $100.00 DOLLARS!!!!!

So, I called Best Buy back and all of a sudden the manager is trying to explain to me that the price was probably adjusted, because the sale was over. I tried explaining to the moron that it was a "Cyber Monday" sale and then proceeded to ask him, "what day is it?" and he told me, "Monday". I then asked him "why would a sale called Cyber Monday end when Monday isn't over with?". He was baffled.

So, go back to order the Insignia 27 inch, but noticed the price has now gone up $30.00 since Friday. I go to place the order, but because the order was cancelled... I now have to wait up to five days for my credit card to be reimbursed.

I'll now be placing my order with some other place, because Best Buy has ruined my week.

Yeah man, what the heck.... went back to buy this TV, and it was now $700 instead of $600

Monday isn't over yet! Do they know what they are doing?

  3. We arrived at 3 am and were the second/third in line. About 30 minutes prior to opening they came out with the coupons/tickets for the big ticket items. Our line was extremely long (I would say 200 people.....in fact I was in and out fairly quickly while the line of people were still coming inside.

We got the TV (after driving by CC and Best Buy at 8pm last night and seeing the lines already around the building we decided Staples would be the best bet). :cheesy:

Unfortunately, we did not have a doorbuster laptop in our area.

I, again this year, was impressed with the way Staples handles Black Friday. I went to Walmart and again was disappointed with their attempt at crowd control.

Finally, it pays to be in a small city! They were sold out of the TV's (got 2), but the computers were still in stock. I was surprised at the lack of people there. I didn't expect BB, but I did expect some type of crowd.
  4. i got the 22" monitor, and once they opened the doors if was pretty much a mad dash for any of the non-ticket items, nobody knew were the monitors were at 1st, then a best buy employee pointed out where they were and it was a mad dash again, me and my brother were both able to get one, but they sold out of those in about 5 minutes, and they had 21 in stock, also i hate the people with carts, can't move with those stupid things everywhere

I am with you- they seem like they wander aimlessly, I don't know how many times I was hit.

They did have bags we could use, and they were nice. The bad thing- the lines were so slow that I couldn't buy anything!

  5. Another vote for Staples - ANYTIME! They're organized, helpful, and friendly.

I should have known better than to try Circuit City, but I must have lost my head for a moment, and went anyway. At 4:45 AM, the line had over 300 people. I left, tried the website, still couldn't get what I wanted, so I went back, figuring the line would have gone down enough. There were still about 100 people standing outside. Again, lost my head, and decided to wait. The place was insane. Lines everywhere, no end in sight, nothing that I wanted available... So I left empty-handed.

Drove to Staples. It's now 6:30 - 1/2 hour after opening. I wanted the flash drive. There were none on the table, but one of the associates said one had just been returned, and she retrieved it for me. No line at the register.

Went to another Staples. Now it's 6:45. This Staples, too, had stuff left on the table, but not the flash drive. I asked, they went in back, found one last one back there.

I've always been a fan - should have known better than to go anywhere else. Not worth the hassle.

Yeah- tried BB, what a nightmare. Made out like a bandit at Staples.
  6. Check out the Ultimate Electronics BF ad... Ultimate is in the upper Midwest (Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area for sure!).

$849.99 for the Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV (60U). Checked with Sears, yes, they will price match on BF.

I think this one is the EDTV.... can anyone else verify?
  7. I really doubt Sears will price match this and give 10% of the difference. If you get it, consider yourself lucky. I made a call to Sears and they said they would price match if the price is good all day Friday at the competitor on a previous purchase. You may have the upper hand since you have not bought it yet. I have been round and round with them about their price matching policy and I am going to give it another try on this one but doubt I will be successful. The thing I am so upset with right now is when I asked in detail about the price match policy in detail he said if I saw a price within the next 30 days to bring the advertisement in or local web site shopping cart and it would be matched and every time I bring something back to them its like well ...no it can't be with a coupon in the shopping cart....and I sure I will hear the same about this one..well no it can't be a seven hour sale....I would try CC first.

Other forums are using the price match technique at Sears, and getting the Panny 42 inch for a little over $1100. To me, it is worth the extra $100 not to stand in the cold for hours.

Anyone else hear about the $200 installation rebate?

  8. I did have the 10% BB coupon in my hand but the salesman noticed it and stated right away it could not be used on this price match. Worth a try anyway. It'll be interesting to see what the price of this tv is come Super Bowl time. They always have good tv sales then.

Yeah, I might hold out for the Super Bowl- they have excellent deals then, but I bet this model will be gone; if not, it will probably be $999, and I won't have to wait in the rain or use my ninja moves to protect myself from the mobs!
  9. Costco opens at 9 am, so you can hit other stores first or sleep in. That deal on the Vizio for $999 is awsome, but if you check out BestBuy's ad, they have a comparible deal on a Panasonic. The Vizio coupon is the only one valid on Friday only, the others are for the whole weekend. I am afraid they will sell out quick.

That Panasonic TV is nice.... it has a great picture, and keeps dropping in price- Tweeter has it for $1100.
  10. The box is kind of big. You will need some help with it. You do not want to lay this box flat. Price matching at BB seems like a nice option at this point. You will be lucky if you get Sears to pricematch this deal plus 10%. All I can do now is hope a local merchant drops the standard $1299 price that is now in my area.

Why are stores dealing this TV? Both BB and Tweeter will have it for $999 on black friday. BB has at least 5 per store, while Tweeter will order at that price if they don't have it.

Is a bigger, better model coming out? It really is a nice picture, so it can't be because of being inferior.
