  1. It seems as if the Premium Outlets have the same sale every year. Although they advertise a "Midnight Madness" sale, there are a number of stores who open early, some of which as early as 10pm. The one sale that I remember is at Yankee Candle where they advertised 6 Large Candles for $60.
  2. Here is my take on BF here in South Jersey. My BF adventure included the following stores: Kohl's, Target, Gamestop, Macy's, Boscov's, JDR Shoes (local discount shoe retailer that advertised 10% off UGGs from 6am-10am), Wal-Mart. Although my wife and I had a very productive shopping experience, it came with a number of obstacles from the following stores:

Kohl's - Only opened one set of doors and had shopping carts located throughout the store instead of being parked by the doors.

Gamestop - Sold us a "new" game in which the original box was not available. We exchanged it at another store later in the day and found that there were no instructions included in the previous purchase.

Boscov's - The "Its in the Bag" promotion at 4am lasted over an hour waiting in a line that snaked from the parking lot to the auditorium in which one employee informed the customer of their prize (I got a $15 gift card, my wife got a $10 gift card).

Wal-Mart - Can be summed up in one word, disorganization.

We got in line at Kohl's at 11:30pm and did not stop until 3:30pm. We had breakfast at Maggianos's, who advertised their BF Breakfast Buffet for the second year in a row.

  3. I don't recall them having any deals in the past. There is one located in front of a shopping center that includes Target, Gamestop, and Costco that is usually crowded with people waiting for Target to open.
  4. Has anyone seen a BF ad for P.C. Richard & Son? For those of you who are unfamiliar with this store, they are another New York-based electronics retailer that expanded down here into South Jersey and Philly. Unfortunately, the store in my area is located about 100 yards from Best Buy, so you can imagine the lack of crowds they experience. Honestly, I cannot see them staying open too much longer and will probably suffer the same fate as other New York-based retailers who tried their hand in this area (i.e. Crazy Eddie, Nobody Beats The Wiz).
  5. The Under Armour outlet near me in Atlantic City is only offering $10 off select Coldgear apparel, as well as a $20 gift card when you spend $100. I should also mention that the outlets in Atlantic City will all open at 7am, as opposed to the other outlets in Jackson and Tinton Falls that will both open at midnight, if not sooner.

  6. I don't mind midnight openings; however, this is really going to throw a wrench into my plans now that several "big name" stores are going to open at that time. In the past, I've made the field trip at midnight to the outlets, but it seems as if other retailers are starting to understand that BF shoppers have no problem standing in line during the day on Thanksgiving. As a result, these retailers are going to capitalize on this trend in 2011 causing BF shoppers to really decide where they should go first.
  7. Hello Everyone,

I have one piece of advice for those of you who plan on buying pre-owned video games on BF, please check the condition of the disc before you make a purchase. Make sure that the disc is not cracked and that there are no scratches visible. I say this from experience, as I am a former employee of EB Games (now Gamestop), so I am very familiar with what is put out on the shelves. You may hold up the line a little, but in the end, it is worth it. Usually, Gamestop has a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale on all pre-owned games on during Thanksgiving weekend, so their intentions are to take as many games in on trade before BF and sell most of them during this time.

    Matt

  8. BB's ad on BF really hasn't been anything to jump up and down about over the past couple of years. It really wouldn't surprise me if the employees have knowledge of the unannounced deals, especially if they are brought up in the break room. I used to work at EB Games over 5 years ago and we knew of the BF deals about a week before they were sent in the newspapers.
  9. Wow, you actually got in? Did you come off Parkway North? Cos I sat in traffic that was basically at a dead stop for HOURS coming off the Parkway South.

We live about an hour from there and it took an extra 15 minutes to get from the Parkway to the parking lot with the traffic. What surprised me was that a few stores decided to open early to give shoppers a chance to "stay warm", since all of the tables were occupied in the food court. By the time we left, I could see major traffic jams getting off of the Parkway and it didn't seem as if anyone was moving. It may not be so bad this year, since that center had its grand opening last year the week before BF.

  10. Honestly, it really depends on what stores are in the outlet center. Last year, my wife and I shopped at the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets only because of the Yankee Candle store who had a 6 large candles for $60 sale at midnight. Although some of the other stores like Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, and Aeropostale had between 40%-50%, there really wasn't much that struck our fancy. The longest line at that center at midnight last year was at the UGG outlet.
  11. I heard the same info at the Converse store located in Philadelphia Premium Outlets that they will open at 10pm. From what I recall last year, several stores decided to open earlier than the advertised "Midnight Madness" (Tommy Hilfiger was one of them). Based on the reaction of the employees at Converse, they were not happy about this decision as their Thanksgiving dinners will be cut short by the earlier opening.
  12. As mentioned in one of my other BF posts, this company opened a store here in South Jersey at the former Circuit City location in Mt. Laurel, NJ. According to their website, they have location in the New York metro area. I remember when Nobody Beats the Wiz had a location here and subsequently closed when Best Buy opened across the street from them. Can anyone tell me about PC Richard and what experiences they've encountered?

    Thanks

  13. Like many other BF shoppers, I've stood in lines for over an hour for doorbuster items, but never camped out for anything. For some of those items, I drove over an hour because I thought it was worth it. For example, my wife and I were at a Yankee Candle outlet and bought 6 large candles for $60.
