  1. I carry a special "key-chain" wallet for my id and any money I need, and can fit that in my front pocket when shopping. No purse, unless you absolutely need to. If you are not carrying a purse, you are less likely to have someone try to grab it,etc... The only other thing I would carry especially during holiday season shopping is extra tissues in a pocket, just in case the restrooms are out of toilet paper (which they usually are when you need it). Good luck!
  2. One of the Dillards stores here in Lexington,Ky will be closing for good on May 23rd, and one of my customers who works there informed me that what they had left is 75% off plus the 30% off that. All sales are final. This is for the Dillards store at Turfland Mall on Harrodsburg Rd in Lexington, Ky. thanks, Twin 66:)
  3. As a mom of teens, it is hard to convince them they don't need to drink soda all the time, but as they get older, they do see the value of drinking water at the sitdown restaurants if we go. But since they are 15 and almost 20, my hubby and I don't take them out much unless it is a birthday or a holiday/special event and the youngest will get a soda, but the rest of us get water. I like the idea of taking those litte drink things you add to water though. I should keep some in my car and purse. I work at a Chickfila here in Lexington,Ky, and we have always allowed parents to purchase a kids drink even w/o a kids meal, which is 69cents plus tax comes to 73 cents each. I make my younger son take a water bottle to drink at school and one of those drink pouches for like the Propel water whenever possible because here, in high schools they charge too much for their sports drinks at the schools too. Of course my DH and I try to wait til the boys are out doing other things and sneak out once in awhile to eat just the two of us. I don't feel guilty either because we don't get to do much on our own since we are on a tight budget with and 3 males can be expensive enough with groceries. ;-) I also can order kids meals at most sitdown restaurants, and sometimes the appetizer menus have chicken strips/fry basket that is a meal in itself. Now days just eating at a fast food is as expensive as a sitdown place. If the place is like Logans or O Charley's who serves rolls sometimes my best friend and I have been known in winter to just get the Loaded Baked Potato soup and water and have rolls and there is a meal in itself. I think it is a matter of learning what we can and can not ask for at a restaurant. I usually say, "I think I will order what I did before,etc..." ). Good luck. Oh, if you have a Red Robin Restaurant near you, go to their website and sign up and when it is your birthday, you get an email you print and take for a free meal. Tony Roma's does this too. Also Abuelos. I love finding things like that!
  4. I work at the freestander here in Lexington Ky, and we haven't done receipt day, but our operator has been doing the "Moovin Monday" free breakfast item every monday during the month of January. We usually only do this in April and August, but I think they decided to do it now, due to gas prices, weather,etc.... I will have to ask them at work about the 'reciept day" thing. Tamara in Lexington,KY
  5. Thank you! My husband and sons will keep busy with this one! My husband has been watching tv shows from cable etc.. on a site called tvu.com
  6. Okay, I went ONCE a long time ago when I didn't have to work and was too tired to even remember what I went out for. My sons are teenagers and my oldest who is 19 would rather have mondy, and my 15 y/o doesn't really matter he wants a bit of both. I usually have to work early shift at my job at Chickfila so I enjoy talking to the people who come in and hearing their stories and knowing what is out at each store,etc... Work is the only reason I get up early on BF. I have fibromyalgia so my body enjoys any rest it can get now days. My MIL will go out with her sister and shop, so I let her tell us how it was, and then enjoy my rest! Good luck! Happy Shopping! I find that about 2 weeks after christmas is best for me, since most retail stores are trying to get rid of everything, and it is usually 75% off by then.
  7. Our Gabriel Brothers here in Lexington is off Man O War/Richmond Rd. , near I-75, I heard from a friend that they had stuff for $1, but had not been there yet. It is about a mile from my home and I don't get there too often, but will check this week to see what is left. Sometimes the stuff is good, sometimes not really saleable. twin66
  8. I went to one of our local Targets this evening here in Lexington,KY. The one on Nicholasville Rd. has 75% off most of their clothes in kids, mens, womens, shoes etc.... Toys were not marked down much but it looked like most of the christmas ones were gone anyways. I am going to the other one tomorrow out in Hamburg near the I-75 exit for Man O War. (you can see it from interstate). Sometimes their markdowns are at a different time than the other one. Thanks, twin66

  10. :) Ok, for those of you who live near a Chickfila I am giving you a heads up as a mom and employee of the first freestander here in Lexington, Ky. We just got new Reloadable Gift Cards in in time for the holidays to replace our old gift certificates(which we will still honor), and I have a college freshman in my home this year so this is a great gift for those parents of teens/college students. You can put either of these amounts on the gift card to start:$5,$10,$20,$25,$50,or $100. They are ALL reloadable up to $100. Great Stocking Stuffer!!!! Also, we have our new 2007 Cow Calender which this years theme is "Wild,Wild,West". It is funny seeing pics of cows in western wear with western names. Each month has a coupon for a FREE food item. This year's is better than last, you will not have as many buy this to get this free coupons, more of the free food w/o purchase in this one. We will accept this years coupons after december they did not used to, but Corporate told us we can. Hope this helps, Thanks, Twin66, mom of 2 teen boys.(ages 14 and 18).
  11. My family had the same 45 record when we were kids. During christmas I get our local radio station to play it, I forget who it is by originally at moment, but it was also sung by peter, paul and mary i believe when I looked it up on internet. You can get the song lyrics and i listened to it at some website last year, but I do not remember where. sorry. It is a cute song that kids will love!!! Twin66
