  1. My husband passed away in September last year. My kids were 17 and 19. It was difficult to be sure trying to start something new especially while I was still in deep mourning, we all were. We decided that Christmas night we'd now go to the movies. Other than that we'll see what happens this year. I'm not big on change and really miss the traditions we had but I had no choice. I'm sorry you're going through this with young ones it will be difficult this year for sure.

  2. It could have to do with where you live.(the divinity) I know with any cookies like that if it's a bit humid or damp they are going to come out wrong. meringue cookies are like that too. Any that you need to beat the egg whites and sugar.
  3. Just me and my mom always. This year DD and her friends plan to go on their own now that they can drive and are old enough to go it alone. I've been prepping her lately on how to handle it but I doubt any of them will be up in time for door busters. They are still teens after all. They'll probably not get moving till at least 9 or 10.
  4. DH suggested biscuits and sausage gravy, but I don't want to spend all morning or what seems like all morning, making it. :D

you can make the gravy the night before and reheat..it's fine and what I do. I also make Paula Dean's hash brown quiche and orange glazed muffins that are from Pioneer woman's blog. Good stuff!!

  5. My broccoli casserole would make Paula Deen cringe.lol

Broccoli steamed and put in a casserole dish. Cover with pats of butter(real salted butter please no margarine) Slice velveeta and lay slices over broccoli till covered. Crumble enough Ritz to cover all put on top. Top those crackers with more pats of butter. Bake 350 till bubbly and melty. So bad....so good.

  6. okay...maybe not then.lol

I didn't know there was construction through there right now. Maybe I'll wait for the newness to wear off of it. This will be the first black Friday it's opened.

    Thank you all.

  7. We have a new one in the Cincinnati area and we're thinking about heading out for the midnight opening. Was wondering how good the deals are and if it's worth the trip because while it's in the area it's still a bit of a haul to go there.
  8. I think it was 2 years ago my son(then 11) wanted an "Abraham Lincoln hat".

I have no idea WHY...he didn't get it. He would have worn it and he's wierd enough as it is.(lol)

My 15y.o. DD wants a snuggie this year too. She's always cold and I can see her hobbling around in that thing.(lol)

  9. i had to laugh when i read this .. my ds 17 is the the boy of many hats . he loves hats and with her personality he does not care what anyone thinks or says. he loves to wear them.. he was wearing a tall light orange hat with fur for the whole month of oct. i was smh. but had to laugh it was so him to not care. now this wk he is walking arround with a winter hat with eyes on it and gloves that match bright red, some girl gave them to him only to see its the (cars )hat. lol he even went to the mall and sat on santas lap with it on.

Thats my son too. I try to keep him "normal" and he wants none of it. He just doesn't care what others think. I guess it's my hangup wanting him to "fit in".LOL

  10. I have a 14 y.o. DD too.

    I've been told to buy.

Metro Station(Miley Cyrus older brother's band he's more Scene/Emo than Miley)

    All Time Low

    Jonas Brothers

    Tokyo Hotel

    Paramore

    Those are her favorites.

  11. My extended family gets a tin of treats every year for their gifts.

    I make toffee,macaroons,candied pecans,fudge,snowball cookies,and assorted mini muffins.

No the kids don't help. They are 14 and 12 and they are good for maybe 10 min. and then the complaining begins. That and when I get started I get in the zone and hate anyone in my kitchen when I get like that.LOL

I do make a gingerbread house every year that my kids and husband decorate. It's a tradition around here that they still like.

  12. Depending on what kmart has. Mom and I generally go first thiing Thanksgiving morning. I ususally just go along for the ride and the deals on Pepsi.(lol) I only have so much money for BF and I'm not going to blow some of my budget on Thanksgiving. We are home in about and hour. Not a long day.
  13. Last year it snowed but didn't stick. I guess if it was something I HAD to have and was an outrageous deal I'd brave the snow. But otherwise I guess I'd have to miss it:cry2: either that or I'd have to drag DH out of bed to drive me and that would totally SUCK. He's a stick in the mud when shopping. He's definatley cramp my style.:D
  14. Last year we started (as always) at WalMart. There's always one big thing and those $6 dollar boys jeans and the hoodies that makes WalMart worth it.

Then we went to Walgreens and another place that has good stuff here(freebies) Big Lots.(lol)

We always go to Kmart but not usually impressed with their ads.
