They also give an extra amount off if you're one of the early bird customers. "Take an additional blah, blah, blah off housewares," for example. They do a lot of BF ads on Thanksgiving, especially during the airing of the parade. The thing about Macy's, though, is they always have sales. They never stop. They're having a Columbus Day sale right now.

Last year one of the local malls opened at 1 AM on BF. It was a big hit, lots of sales, so I expect other retailers to do the same this year.

My poor husband carrying out a bunch of strangers tvs at Sears because they were so understaffed, there was no one there to help people.
How sweet. You married a great guy, but I'm sure you know that. :)

I predict dirt cheap computers (manufacturers reducing stock of non-Vista compatible models) and older model Creative Mp3 players. Creative has been releasing new mp3 players without discontinuing many models. They're perfect for BF.

I didn't shop TRU on BF last year, but when I did go there I was able to get what I needed minus 2 gifts -- a Dora kitchen and the Chronicles of Narnia game for Gamecube. They apparently staggered their inventory like Target. So, when I went there they had most of the hot toys I needed.
I was able to get the game at Gamestop and the kitchen on Ebay for retail (not the jacked up prices some people wanted to charge).

If you go to aol.com, there's a link (a blue banner on the right side) to allow you to switch to a free account. If you switch to free you do lose some priviledges like support. You can still use the software if you want.
Edit: I don't think there are any penalties. You still have aol you're just switching the type of plan you use. Or that's how it was explained to me. I had a few months left on my account, but switched without a penalty.

Brand Ethics v. The Hot Deal

Well, that's where we come from too. That's our history. My ancestors worked $3 a week jobs to give their children and grandchildren better opportunity. I am not where I am now because I worked particularly hard for it. People before me worked hard so that I would have the opportunity to go to college or have a good job. They endured all kinds of terrible work conditions (and eventually rallied to get things changed) so we wouldn't have to.
I struggle with the ethical issue of buying cheap goods. On one hand, I agree with you. OTOH, I know this is the only chance the world will give them to get out of poverty.
