    Sephora

Sephora has a 20% off discount code around that time. Other than that, they do a sale the day after Christmas but not a BF sale.
  2. Thanks for the info! Old Navy is definitely one of my stops now. :) Be sure tolet us know any sale info you get.
  3. Woo hoo! Thanks! Does this ad come out on Sunday in newspapers?
  4. That's rich. This from a company accused of not only hiring illegal workers, but locking them in the store so they can't leave. Yeah, posting the BF ad is way worse than that. ETA: This is just one example of Wal-Mart breaking the law.
  5. Anybody remember what BF was like before everybody was on the internet? And people like Baker probably don't understand how this "internets thing" works. You see, word of mouth travels faster online than through any other form of communication. Most of us don't just post to Gottadeal. We go to other online forums like non-BF message boards, Usenet, mailing lists, MySpace, Blogs, etc. etc. We don't tell 2 friends. We tell 2,000 friends and they tell 2,000 and so on. That's the viral voice of the people. Yes we will shop anyway. But we don't have to shop at Wal-Mart as consumers have proven again and again. How was your performance last year, Wal-Mart? What's this year's plan?Try to sell more agressively priced crappe that no one wants to buy? Jeez. Wal-Mart is their own worst enemy.
  6. Do we live in the same town? The people at the nearest Wal-Mart are downright mean. I've seen people get knocked over because a new line opened up. And it wasn't even BF!
  7. It helps them because more people are aware of BF shopping and that Best Buy/Circuit City have sales on BF. I think Wal-Mart spent a long time being a BF champion because not enough people knew about other stores. Getting the ads even the day before Thanksgiving can be tough. Sites like this one has publicized their ads to lots more people. Even the Canadians are coming down to shop with us. Best Buy has seen a steady increase in sales as sites like GottaDeal.com increase in popularity. It's not a coincidence. I still believe Wal-Mart is afraid of consumer reaction negativly impacting their sale like last year. But they fail to realize that if the other retailers ignore the ads being posted here, consumers will make their plans based on the available ads. This is just another miscalculation in a long list of miscalculations on Wal-Mart's part.
  8. I suspect Wal-Mart has something to hide and it isn't really great deals on stuff people want. The reaction to their ad and the online specials was bad. But the reaction didn't kill the hype, the actual advertised specials did. They refuse to understand that. The other stores are doing better because they offer items people want. Leaked or not, they're going to perform badly again this year.
  9. I go home and tell the same lie I tell every year: I'm not going back out there next year! Then I take a nap.
  10. Oh, I miss those goodie bags at Target! Those were the best. That's definitely one tradition Target needs to revive. I think the fights were worse in the 80s than they are now. I can remember incidents like a fight in Belk dept. store over $5 crock pots. One year they knocked all the crock pots on top of my head! I was only 15! I didn't even need a crock pot. I was helping my mom. I remember when Wal-Mart sold things you actually wanted to buy. In college, I'd go there to buy gifts (good prices for my college student budget) then head to Target for my goodie bag. Sears and J.C.Penney giving away gift certificates at the door. Free coffee and doughnuts. Free gift wrapping services. The exhaustion of shopping for 3 or 4 hours is still the same though. :)
  11. That song about the little boy buying his dying mama a pair of shoes. It's simply the most depressing Christmas song ever. Every time I hear that song it sucks all the joy out of my Christmas.
  12. My kids haven't asked for any of that stuff... All I ever hear about is Hannah Montana this, Transformers that, Star Wars, Cheetah Girls, blah, blah, blah.
  13. I go alone so I can shop in peace.
  14. I'd like to know this as well. Has anyone spotted them?
  15. I grew up in Georgia, but I've never been BF shopping Savannah. Honestly, you don't have to worry about students from SCAD or any of the other colleges since most go home for the holidays. Savannah has your typical stores like Wal-Mart and Target. There are also southern stores like Belk, which is pretty popular for their doorbusters, too. The lines will be just as long there as they are everywhere else. When I was growing up, we almost always went to Milledgeville (a bit north and to the west of you) for BF. It was always packed with an occasional scuffle. I live in Charlotte now, but in all the bigger cities I've lived in people usually shop vs close to home as possible. You do have "competition" from smaller towns near you, especially if there's little to no shopping in those towns.
  16. That sounds like fun! What kind of decorating did your department get to do?
  17. Well, duh. I feel stupid now. :) Thanks for clearing that up for me.
  18. I don't understand. If there's a minimum of 15 per store, how will they have anything left over for blitz? Or do you mean the ones Wal-Mart as a whole has left over?
  19. Last year I did either Darth Vadar or Kermit the Frog. I got one call to tell me to go to bed and another to wake me up.
  20. Hi, everyone. Every year about this time, I grab a copy of Toy Wishes magazine. It really helps me narrow down what gifts I give my kids and to know what new "hot" toys I should buy right away. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a copy yet. Has anyone seen this magazine in stores? I know the 2006 issue is out, but I can't find any retailers that have copies on the shelf. If by chance you spot a copy while you're out shopping, please come back here and let me know where you found it. Thanks!
  21. I have shopped Coach for years. Outside the outlet malls, I have never seen anything on sale at Coach freestanding stores. The outlets have discounts and stores like Macy's and Bloomingdales put Coach merchandise on sale frequently, but never on BF. That's my experience anyway.
  22. Over 20 years now. My mom would take me with her when I was a kid. It's a tradition that I never hope ends.
