  1. I see a lot of stuff that Staples is going to have that I want to get. I really hope that the majority of the stuff is available online. That way I can order it with my laptop:D while waiting in line at other stores!

Bring on the "REAL" Wal-mart ad, Office Depot, and Comp USA on!!!!:gdchatter:

  2. I am going with my son and my niece so we can take potty breaks. I called a friend who worked at BB last bf and she said that they had food vendors and a port-a-potty in the parking lot..sounds pretty comfy to me. I want to make sure that I get the things I want I have been saving for bf for 4 months.

That does sound comfy!! As long as it is not cold or wet outside I'm good to go. I hope that BB really does give out tickets in an organized way cause I really don't feel like fighting this year. I already know what to expect from WM :yuck: !

  3. I can't wait I'm getting in line with my Turkey dinner..

I like that....but not too much, because what goes in must come out! If you are going to have to stay in line 8-10 hours, try not to eat/drink too much unless you have a partner. :fluffy:

  5. Looking at the color ad it's showing the z650 as being on sale not the z710. But when you go to the BB website, they aren't showing the z650 at all.

CC will have one with a printer dock for $99 AR. Is that a good camera?

  6. Last year I got my son the 20 inch flatscreen TV with DVD player for like 90 bucks I think. My Walmart had a TON and there were still some there when I went in the next day. But from what I read on here, last year everybody's Walmart seemed to get a different quantity on different items. Some people's Walmart only have 20 laptops where as others had 50-100.

Our Wal-mart had 33 laptops??? The lady who stocked them said that it was 40 when she put them up. Hmmmmmm, wonder what happened to the others???:g_think:

  7. Thanks. With the hundreds of BF threads and dizzying choices, sometimes it helps to keep it simple.

I forgot to add that Belkin wireless routers are worth considering.

Belkin is the one I use and I have not have any problems with it! I want to go up to N cause right now I am on G.

  8. I have never went to one before, I may want the tv though? how exactly does it work assuming my store opens at 6am?? Do people camp out? Is it just a mad dash into the store??

Well, where I live there are no tickets and no lines, when the air horn is blown everybody rushes and grabs what they want (this goes for the smaller items and toys). For some of the really expensive stuff you get a ticket (laptop,cpu,etc...),but you have to be in line by midnight.

  9. For the last two years, CompUSA has been BY FAR the best BF stop for the stuff I'm interested in. After seeing the BB and CC ads, I'd be surprised if CUSA doesn't make it 3 years in a row.

The other interesting thing about CUSA is that they actually can have some incredible deals at times other than BF. I got some fantastic deals in the week or two leading up to BF last year, and even as late as March they were having BF-comparable deals still (on LCD TVs and Seagate hard drives mainly). I remember they had 3 separate opportunities (one of them BF) to pick up a 200GB hard drive for $30AR. I have not seen any price/GB that low since.

Hopefully we'll start to see some of their pre-BF deals starting soon.

I usually see the cheap hard drives and dvd writers at Staples or Office Depot. I am looking a Pre-N or N wireless router bundle with notebook card, but BB's deal may just have to do.

  10. I just got off of the phone with "customer care." I had a problem this morning and called to see if someone would be able to help me resolve it. Apparently no one at Best Buy cares if they keep their customers. I will never set foot back in the store. Well, maybe to return the stuff I bought there earlier this week.

I called yesterday to see if they would match the price another local store had on 30 GB ipods. The young lady I spoke with said that yes, that would not be a problem. So I went to my local grocery store to buy gift cards for this purchase. The grocery store offers a gas incentive for buying gift cards there. I brought the GC home and took them out of the packaging, seeing as how I planned to use them this morning.

When I got to BB today, I was told that the other store was offering a gen 5 product, and BB has gen 6 ipods, so there would be no price match. They also won't give me the money for the gift cards I bought (which remember, are now out of the package.)

No one wanted to help me with what has now become my $200 problem. I came home and called BB, and spoke with someone who went to her supervisor and came back saying that there was nothing they could do, she could log a "formal complaint." OOOoooo, a formal complaint. Scary. So I asked to speak with her supervisor, who told me essentially the same thing. I asked to speak to her supervisor, and was told that she was as high as I could go. So now I am stuck with $200 in BB gift cards with no intention of ever going back. They did tell me I could take them back to the grocery store, which I guess is what I'll attempt, but since they are out of the packaging, I'm doubtful I can return them.

I understand I own some responsibility in this mess. I opened the GC. But I am so very frustrated that no one at BB gives a crap about their customers, especially when I tried to do the right thing by calling to confirm they would match the price.

Just thought I would pass it along to the 85,000+ people here just how much BB appreciates your business.

If all else fails, sell the gift cards on e-bay!!! At least you will get most of your instead of losing out completely. Or wait until BF and spend it on BB merchandise. After that you can keep it or sell the stuff. All is not lost.....

BTW....none of them REALLY care about one customer and their little problem. It is when we start complaining by the masses that they start to listen.:D

  11. LOL, I love all the holiday spirit being expressed in this thread! BB gun, taser, push in mob formation...........:( I've camped out in a few BF situation and for the Xbox 360 and have never had any problems. If you're planning on getting the tickets/vouchers then you need to be in line. PERIOD.

If you're that close to the front then you need to establish relations to the people around you so when you need to go to the bathroom, get a coffee, whatever.... that you can leave the line for a few minutes and return without incident.

But anybody who thinks they're gonna just magically show up and hop in line an hour before the store opens is nuts. I wouldn't allow it and I would definitely rally the other hundreds in line behind them and make sure they don't stay there.

I am talking about good old Wal-mart!! If BB is as organized as everyone is saying, then that would be great. Wal-mart loves the publicity they get from it all.

  12. I would suggest you get a GBA SP or the Nintendo DS Lite.

The GBA Micro's screen is very small and will be very hard on a child's eyes, even though the screen is as bright as the older DS's. The Micro was mainly intended for those who wanted an extremely portable gameboy and one that was customizable (has interchangeable faceplates). Both the SP and DS allow for screen protection via their clamshell designs, whereas the Micro's screen is always open and prone for scratches.

If you can afford it, I would just spring for the Nintendo DS, as it plays gameboy advance games as well as DS games. You get the best of both worlds: young kids can start off with GBA games if the DS games are too complicated for them and later on, when they get better they can easily upgrade to DS games.

I work in the videogame department at TRU and know the trend of what kids want these days. The DS is extremely popular and TRU usually offers bundled packages for it. My guess is that the Micro is selling for so cheap because stores need to get rid of their stock of it since it isn't selling. About a month ago, TRU offered a big bundle with the Micro where one could of saved a lot of money on it. Even with the sale, I failed to sell even 1 package.

If he's 6 years-old and takes good care of his belongings, you shouldn't have any reservations with getting a DS. But if price is the issue, go with the SP and it should last him till next year when Nintendo will undoubtibly come out with a new handheld.

:gdyeahthat: I love my SP...I just want a DS for the Animal Crossing.
