  1. Stores really don't do coupons anymore like they used to. I remember some years ago at my local Goody's store they gave us $10 off $10 or more coupons to use on already Black Friday prices. My aunt ended up getting her grandsons coats for free.
  2. My first was 2006. I can't remember why we started but it was probably because we had a little extra money at the time. But it was the adrenaline rush that got me hooked and it was fun. When they said go for it- it was on!
  3. To me, and this may sound silly, but it's when I start seeing Macy's one day sales commercials on tv.
  4. I hope they go back to the traditional 5am openings or at least midnight or 1am. There are way too many spectators and socializers now. I have seen people bring their whole family with them including the elderly and only one person is there to shop. It makes the stores too congested now.
  5. Walmart has been good for me. I've gotten just about all my small appliances from there. The towels, bath cloths, pillows and sheets are good also if you can get to them. I remember one year at my Walmart some people started fighting over some $1.74 towels. Smh. Lol
  6. This year I plan on having the biggest budget I've ever had since I started Black Friday shopping in 2006. I plan on using a combination of cash, PayPal credit and credit card. I'll use PayPal credit for online purchases and cash & credit card for store purchases.
  7. I've usually started shopping by now to get some things out of the way. This time last year I had already ordered some of the more pricier stuff I know don't get Black Friday discounts or don't get major Black Friday discounts. This year I've been helping my sister prepare for her first child (my first nephew) so I haven't have much extra cash. So this Black Friday I just plan on catching some TVs on sale. I'm tempted to buy them now and just skip the now very chaotic Black Friday crowds but the discounts are still too good to pass up.
  8. My sister and I stood outside K-mart last year for about two hours. It was freezing! We both had on long johns, two layers of clothes, coats, scarfs, hats, gloves, everything. Thats the most I think I could take.
  9. I went to my walmart last week and picked up some of the blu-rays and other stuff that are advertised in the bf ad and hid them in the store so I wont have to worry about fighting the crowd for them. I had to make sure nobody was looking, but this saves precious time on black friday. Especially if you find yourself having to stand in line for another item.
  10. Definitely the blu-rays and cheap tv seasons. Last year I bought the blu-ray player and no blu-rays. I'm kicking myself now for that one. Especially all three Lord of the Rings blu-rays for cheap. "sigh"
  11. I got the $69 blu-ray player from walmart. I got mine at 12:01, it was the same one on the shelf for $118 so I scanned it for the price and it came up $69. I was so happy I didn't have to come back at 5, but I did anyway. My only complaint is that the 12:01 sale was as bad as the 5:00 sales used to be. People were everywhere, I got stuck at the $2 dvds and couldn't get out for 10 minutes. We were jammed shoulder to shoulder. They had our stuff wrapped up and you couldn't touch it till 12:01. And some of the sales items were missing, like the $10 Crock Pot, the $5 bedroom shoes, etc. So I don't know.
  12. One year my walmart had so many lay-a-ways that when you went to pick it up they told you to drive around to the back of the store and they got it out of storage trailers, so thats always an option. I think they really hurt walmart by taking away the lay-a-ways. People would buy more if they could pay on it, than pay all at once. I know I would.
  13. This is all good info guys, Thanks. My walmart is a 24 hour one so this makes sense now. Like I said I'm going to try and talk to one of the managers a little closer to black friday and get all the scoop I can. Again, Thanks
  14. I noticed a few things last year when I arrived at my local wal-mart. First off when I arrived a few hours before go-time, there were people that already had advertised merchandise (Nintendo DS bundles, picture frames, dvds, etc) in the buggies and some that had checked out. Some said that they were allowed to get the stuff and check out at 3 o'clock ahead of time. This was news to me! Also, my wal-mart has a tire and lube department (I think they all have them now) and it's located right next to the toys, I can't recall although I'm pretty sure that it's check out was not being used. Did any of these shenanigans go on at your wal-mart? In addition, I plan on making a list of questions about this black fridays details and calling my wal-marts manager for some before hand insight.
  15. I'm here in Virginia and I was browsing my local Wal-mart and the had an 32" for $360-$370 not sure on the exact price or brand wasn't paying that close attention. But yeah.
