  1. It has helped me out TREMENDOUSLY. I have probably saved well over $100 using google checkout. I have used it with:

    Sports Authority

Toys R Us (pretty fast shipping)

    Buy.com (VERY fast shipping)

    jr.com (fast shipping)

The only thing I can say I do not like about it is when you use a debit card to pay, if you bought, for example, 3 or 4 items totaling over $50, each item will show up as a separate transaction on your bank account statement or your online access to checking, if your bank has that. So when I write down in my checkbook that my total was $54.23, it won't show up that way on statement, but each item will show up as one transaction. This is a real PAIN :( So I have learned that I must make a note of this on each entry total in my checkbook.

I think it has been a GREAT thing other than this. The grand total on each order is what should show up on your account, and the stores and/or google need to figure out how to do this, because it is a big hassle. :yup:

  3. I don't know how much you're planning on spending, but I have saved a BUNDLE in the last 2 weeks doing the google checkout deal on buy.com. For every $30 you spend, you get $10 off your order and for every $50 you spend you immediately get $20 off your order when you checkout thru google! I've placed 4 orders and got each as close to $50+ that I could, and saved $20 each time. So you could get $50 worth of stuff for $30. They ship VERY fast; got something today (13th) that I ordered in the wee hours of the morning on the 10th. Most of the stuff I got was free shipping, too. They are sort of like amazon, but on a smaller scale. They have toys, electronics, clothing, etc. I think items would get to you standard shipping if you order Thurs. or Fri. Hope this helps! You are doing something REALLY nice, God bless you! ;)
  4. Target has a really good everyday price on some movies and their sequels. For example, they have the Free Willy movies, 1,2 & 3 (comes all on one disc, less discs to mess with ;-) for $10! I think that is a great deal! They also had 3 Lassie movies, and some other titles. I called my SIL who owns a preschool/daycare and she wanted me to pick up both mentioned above, she is always looking for the good, clean movies like this that are sometimes hard to find now. She said all her kids ever watch is stuff like Scooby Doo, Power Rangers etc. and wanted to get them interested in some classics. Hope this helps!! :yup:

Yes, Veggie tails are a TERRIFIC choice; broad base of age range, too :yup:

  6. Hey again:D I do understand - the DVD recorders can be tricky. It's just that the deciding factor for me was price, picture quality, etc. and the model I bought had high reviews. I was reading thru my posts and I don't know why I kept referring to the camcorder as the DVD recorder - I hope you understood that I was talking about the camcorder. DUH! My brain is foggy today...:cheesy:

P.S. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about when it comes to kids and time...I have a 19 yr old son, a 15 yr. old daughter, and a 7 year old son. I was just telling my husband last night that I am tired of feeling this way every year at Christmas time; we're not supposed to feel so stressed at Christmas!
  7. Hi again!

Yes, we do have a DVD recorder, but DH gets upset pretty much everytime he uses it because he can never remember how it works that's why I was thinking the camcorders that record directly to DVD would be a better option for him. I would transfer the tapes myself, but with a full-time job, a 10 year old and a very demanding 4 year old, I just can't find the time to do it.

  8. TAMI, after reading thru your post again, I misunderstood and thought you said your husband was very knowledgeable on electronics. Sorry! Also, Sorry I misspelled your name in the previous post;) Also, if you have any more questions about my camcorder:yup: feel free to ask!

Yes, they do record to a tape, but they can be transferred over to a blank DVD thru a DVD recorder. Do you have one? If not, you could purchase one with the $ you saved on the camcorder, just an idea:) You just plug the camcorder in to the dvd recorder and dub the tape onto the blank DVD. Just a thought!
  9. Hi Tammy :) I know you requested info on the DVD recorder but have you considered the mini DV recorder? I researched this thoroughly, and learned from a few professional reviewers that the compression ratio, whatever that is, I think it has to do with image quality, your hubby will probably know, is actually better with the mini dv recorder than the DVD recorder. After researching all the models, I finally bought a canon and am very happy with it. I paid $213 total for it on buydig.com. They had the best price and are highly rated by consumers. I would highly recommend them. Hope this helps!:yup:

  10. I found one on QVC for about $400 shipped, but can't find any reviews on it. It's a Panasonic 1000x DVD Camcorder 2.5"Diag. LCD Bag& Accessories. Item #E01979 (this site won't let me post the link. Sorry).

Any suggestions/deals on one of these. DH is very technologically challenged so this would be a better option for him than something that needs to be transferred to DVD through another medium.

    Thanks

    Tami

ETA: I can't really afford to spend more than $400, but don't want it if it's poor quality.

Right now it is 12:14am EST Thanksgiving Day and it is still priced at $59, I thought I saw where it was suppoed to go on sale today on website for $39? Clue me in, someone!! I want to order this and have it shipped to my home for $39 :yup:
