  1. This is the first time, besides during the pandemic, that my sister and I  did not go out ANYWHERE on black friday. I sat home and watched football. This was for a combination of reasons...I too am at a stage where I  don't need a lot, but I  still managed to make quite a few purchases, but it was easier and less expensive to do so online. I can calculate discounts, cash back offers, rebates, etc from home and get free shipping. With the month long sales and lack of paper ads it's easier to do at your computer. If macys would have had their free items like they used to, I  probably would have went out,  lol.

  2. I'm a die hard desk topper, lol. I used to work for a municipality and helped supervise IT. I  learned a lot and built my last 2 computers myself. I too tend to build with the highest specs I can afford and keep for about 10 years. I have been retired for some years now so I  don't feel comfortable building myself, but I  am going to have one custom built with the specs I want. I am going to set up 3 monitors. I can't wait.  I  don't even game,  lol. Lots of calculations,  spreadsheets, document design, of course bill paying, taxes, household use, etc. I  just prefer a desktop. I'm also a little geeky, going for minimum 32GB ram this time. Also, doing it while hitting the best deals, cash back,  etc. I  bought a laptop some time ago, rarely even use it. Once in a blue moon when I  am sick and can't get out of bed I remote in to my desktop, lol.

  3. I agree, the ads seemed pretty lackluster. I  wasn't looking for a whole bunch, but if the ads would've been more exciting I probably would have bought more than I originally intended,  lol. I made them more exciting by piling on rebates and cash back offers to get an even better deal. One of my great deals was a kitchenaid 5.5qt lift bowl mixer for net $172! My goal was to break $200. That made it a little more exciting.

  4. Ok, so I  found my husband's waterpik and my sonicare at Kohl’s. I  put them in my cart and waited for $15/50 Kohl’s cash. We were also looking for heavy duty folding chairs. I did a search online and found them on sale at....Kohl’s. With Kohl’s cash and rewards!!! SCORE Gonna use the Kohl’s cash to get replacement heads for waterpik and sonicare. Yahoo.

  5. Ok, I just saw Wal-Mart's black Friday ad online.... I'm going to bed now.  Totally unimpressed. Nothing I was actually looking for. They say a few more items will be revealed later. I'm not holding my breath.

  6. I remember one year we were waiting in line out in the freezing cold at walmart. Police would drive up and down the line so people wouldn't cut in line and remain orderly. All of the sudden my sister and I  hear people arguing. A pregnant lady was yelling at someone. A fight broke out and the police came and arrested some folks, including the pregnant woman. Wow, they couldn't even wait until they got IN the store to start fighting!

  7. I got the 2 monitors I wanted, with extended service plan. I got on at 9am (CA) for early access. At first it wouldn't let me add plan, then it said only 3 left (that might have been in store). When I  readded with plan I selected shipping. Order went through in a breeze. That was pretty much all I  wanted from this sale.

  8. I can't remember a specific deal that was memorable,  but what I  do remember is how no one could hang with me and my sister on Black Friday.

For years it was just her and I.  We would get up in the wee hours of the morning and meet at Denny's for breakfast. Than we would get a hot chocolate-to-go. We would then wait outside in line at walmart from about 4am until they opened at 6am.

From there we would hit up 5 or six or seven more stores before stopping for lunch (or breakfast #2). Then we would hit a few more stores before finally heading home. Since we live in two different towns, sometimes we would each even hit up a few of our local stores on the way home. It wasn't unusual for us to get home at about 3 or 4 pm. We had a blast.

Then other people would want to come with us. I guess they wanted to see what all the hype was about. First it was my son, then my daughter-in-law, then my daughter when she got older. They each only went one time. They were worn out before we even got started. They declared we were crazy and never again asked to accompany us.

Then we were back to the two of us....and we like that just fine. 🙂

  9. Ok, I  had to breakdown and get a kitchenaid mixer. I got it on sale at Best Buy. Was on sale for the same price ($249.99 for the 5.5 bowl lift) on kitchenaid.com, but with various coupons, rebates and rewards (one of which was expiring tonight), it was a better deal and a better color - I netted it for  $182.09 (might be $172.09-not sure about one reward). I'm going to use my kitchenaid.com coupons for a few of the  attachments I want. I doubt a better deal will come along.

Waiting until Wednesday for monitors at Walmart.

Woo Hoo, got my curved monitor today.  Its not the laptop I need but its a start for my new office.

Did you get the one from Sam's? I think I'm going to wait for the one from walmart. I couldn't find the specs for the one at Sam's.  The one from wm is a little smaller but has better resolution and comes with a 3 year warranty.

  11. You guys have summed it up....all of these crazy sales (and some not actually being sales), not being able to look at the paper ads and make a plan, not being able to plan what to purchase efficiently because of all of these mini sales...not leaving the house at 2am to grab hot chocolate and get in line until 6am...Sam's Club not having their membership giftcard on sale, only deal for signing up for credit card (which I already have). not being able to hear the "roar" of excitement when they tear open the pallets at walmart, lol.
