  1. I saw that. By the time I got home, it was sold out. I even told that couple about that in case they wanted that deal. I am waiting still for the TV. I think just judging from the amount of stock the BB I went to had and a report from a friend of mine that the deals are not over as far as TVs go.
  2. This one made my jaw drop but not for the reason the OP stated. Waltzed into BB on Friday and saw the Sony KDL-46V5100 for $1599. I had just come from HH Gregg and it was $965 there. I already knew it was $1199 at Sears. It made my jaw drop because BB had the audacity to jack it up to SRP on BF. To me that was just crazy. I actually told a couple about the HH Gregg price while they were standing there trying to decide. They presumably left to go get it. It was funny that same couple talked to a BB employee right before I told them and they said to him "we're thinking about this one" and he said "thinking about it or gonna get it" and walked off. That also made my jaw drop.
  3. Seems to me, and I could be wrong, that the stores have caught on to the whole Black Friday thing and are taking advantage of ordinary customers who don't know prices. Now they openly call it Black Friday on TV and in ads. It wasn't that way before a year or two ago, IIRC. The perfect example of this is the Sony KDL-46V5100 in the Sears ad. It is $1239 on BF and right now you can buy it for $1039 at Sears and BB. That's a deal? Gimme a break! No wonder we're disappointed. I just looked at the BB ad again. Some of the TVs have different model numbers and are not on the website. No way to compare with that going on.
  4. Not sure about BF, but there have been better deals on at least 2 sets on this ad so far this year. I have been looking at the Sony KDL-46V5100 and Samsung LN46B650 since April with plans for BF. Here is what I've found: The Sony KDL46V5100 is priced at $1239 for Sears BF. It was $1199 on October 10th at BB. It is only $100 off the average price throwing out the high and low. It's been $1299 most of the year at BB, Fry's, CC and Sears. And it is $1299 right now at Sears. The Samsung LN46B650 is posted at $1309 on BF. The low of the year was $998 at BrandsMart on August 27th. The high is the MSRP of $1999 a couple times during the year....including the first week of the NFL season. The current price is $1449 at all the stores I track. So for me, these two need to be lower than the best price in the middle of August and October for me to make a move.
  5. Walked into Best Buy around 1:45pm. Ended up getting the 32" Dynex for $399. You know, the doorbuster? Hey, I have no idea how good or bad it is. My mom needed a TV and this one will get the job done. It's replacing a TV that is at least 16 years old. On that note, this particular Best Buy (Lindbergh location, ATL) appeared to have a good bit of doorbusters or ticketed items still available around 2pm on Black Friday. I would have never expected to get one of the ticketed items that late in the day.
  6. Two problems with Fry's, IMHO. If I was pining on being out early on BF, this would be worse. Nothing I need and not much extra cash due to the economy. First: Their ad is regional. That usually means no leaks. Second: Their ad does not come out in the Thanksgiving Day paper. You have to get the paper on BF in order to get the ad. The paper in Atlanta is delivered to stores around 5:30am (I looked one year when I woke up early). By that time, you're SOL if you are wanting to get a doorbuster. I wish they would put the BF ad out on Thanksgiving like everyone else so I could plan a strategy. But they stick to their big ad on Friday policy. I wish someone could get a hold of at least one region. It would give us an idea of what they are thinking as far as deals.
