  1. Yes....it's a great little unit to surf, email and do other things (short of hardcore gaming) on. Add yourself some memory on down the road, and you're good to go. Good find...I'd be all over this if I hadn't nabbed a similar notebook at Wal-Mart earlier this month! :)
  2. No way...people are crazy enough there. If there was a 200 dollar plasma, it would be a riot scene. Add that onto the fact that there's no conceivable way to get the technology down to that price point right now, and you have a tall tale in the making. Your friend is just blowing smoke on this one...sorry.
  3. It's a little different each place....mostly, in my experience, Best Buy and Wal-Mart see the most crowds, since historically, they have offered the best deals. This year, eh, not so much (at least not yet, anyway...) That being said, it certainly wouldn't hurt to scout the location Thanksgiving night, and get there a few hours early. With the "Friends and Family" sale at Sears last Sunday, and some people getting their Sears shopping out of the way... you might see less people there overall.
  4. Thanks, fuzzylogic. I'll return it tomorrow first thing then. :)
  5. Hmmm...well, I dunno if store credit will help me too much with my issue with getting it to work with everything in my set-up. Gah...how I regret throwing the packaging out right now.
  6. Yeah, I still have three or four days left out of the 15 day limit...I guess my main question is if I'll get any grief for not having the packaging it came in at all.
  7. Hi... I bought the 50 inch Sanyo plasma on the "pre" Black Friday sale Wal-Mart had a few days back...and while it's well and good TV-wise, I've found that it isn't working with my HTPC, even with repeated tries and purchasing various adapters. I still have the receipt, and additionally, I also have a "gift receipt" for the TV that printed along with it. The only problem is that the original packaging (box and styrofoam) has been thrown away. I still have all cables, manuals and associated reading material that came with the TV (and, again, I have the receipt and a gift receipt), and I'm within the 15 day limit on electronic returns by three/four days. Will I have a problem bringing the TV back sans packaging (box and styrofoam) and getting a refund of the 998 I paid for it? I'm not looking to rip anyone off, or try to "beat" the system here...just want to get my money back for something that didn't work out like I thought it would. :) Thanks... especially to any Wal-Mart employees or pros that can offer a speedy opinion since time is of the essence on this one!
  8. Thanks to all that have responded...I suppose I'm going to let price dictate the purchase for me. ...perhaps WM and BB will come through with a few cheaper deals than what we've seen so far.
  9. Told ya...a real let down when I saw it a few days ago. Cross those fingers they come up with something else to knock our socks off before BF. Thanks for posting it, though. :)
  10. ...the WM BF ad won't do much to change your plans this BF, folks...not many deals to be found at all.
  11. Big Lots ad was removed due to the usual legal BS...
  12. Thanks for all the information, folks...I'm still torn as to which way to go on this. I hate format wars...I wonder if this is how all the people who had to choose between Betamax and VHS felt?
  13. Yeah...there wasn't a single thing worth checking out there that I saw.
  14. Thanks for clearing that up. The more you know...
  15. ...I'm still kicking myself for not buying it earlier this month. Thanks for the possible heads up! :)
  16. HD-DVD players have backward compatibility with regular DVD's (some companies even produce DVD's with HD on one side and regular DVD on the other...although I've only seen a few), and Blu-Ray does as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_high_definition_optical_disc_formats This link may help as well, with comparisons between each. :)
  17. Looks like at least from the Sears page for the A3 it does qualify for the 5 free...there's a link to a .pdf at the bottom of the product page. Guess that's my best bet, then...unless Best Buy throws us a curveball this BF with some suprise deals.
  18. Thanks. I wish I had jumped on the A2 when WM had it on sale during their secret sale a few Fridays ago. I guess I was hoping someone would do a repeat of that deal...I'll have to check out the A3. :)
  19. Missed out on the Wal-Mart $98.00 HD-DVD player deal first of the month (along with everything else at my Wal-Mart on that sale...anyway...), but interested in purchasing whichever format player is cheaper come BF. Anyone seen any hot deals on players yet? Thanks... :)
  20. That may be the way to go this year....it looks like several places are going to do online as well as in-store or even on-line only sales. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)
  21. Hmmm...700 bucks off. Same price at Amazon, too. This was the only thing that I was thinking of going after BF. I don't know a lot about camcorders (other than from what I've read, 3CCD is a good thing); so compared to the BF ones (and overall)...would this be a good one in lieu of getting up early BF? I was thinking about spending in the 2-300 dollar range anyway....I just want to know if I'm getting a good deal. I've seen some fairly good reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, but, as this will be my first camcorder...I thought I would ask here first. Heck, if I end up getting this I guess I'll sleep in BF! :)
  22. Further proof of how great newegg is. Never, ever had a bad experience with them. :) Looking forward to it...
