  1. Wisconsin kind of sounds like it is bad. Last year at this time I was just trying to get the bills, that came at the last minute and just kept going higher, paid. This year cars are doing alright and no big bills have come up (fingers crossed) so I am excited.....
  2. They have a wrestling ring for those wrestling figures. They have a cage match ring. They also have a ring that has a rebound mat of some kind. Also if he is into any kind of cards that you collect a binder for them. We got our son one that had a cover that you could insert something into and we got pictures of characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh universe and made a cover from them. He really likes it. Looks at his cards everyday.
  3. I don't know about your grandmother but definitely socks or slippers with the treads on them... But blankets are a good idea to. But also maybe a clock radio with the large numbers on them. You might have to set it and tune it into the station in the area that has the music that she likes. It would give her something to listen to that could be like company. Cookies and candy can sometimes be bad for older people because of Diabetic and health concerns. Also sometimes a good powder. House dresses are sometimes a good thing easy to get on and take off and they are not to binding. Hard candy is also a good idea (Sugar-Free are always an option). They keep your mouth from drying out. An area nursing home that I know of has someone come through and fix hair for the residents. You could always pay for an extra service from them. They would always cut their hair for free but to get a permanent or something extra it costs.
  4. Ours had $4.88 movies relating to Halloween. "Bless the Child", "Friday the 13th" movies, "Marathon Man", "Bringing Out the Dead", and "Rosemary's Baby". Other movies of the same type. I bought "Bless the Child".
  5. Just wondering what people think. I saw the Mononply Here and Now at rollback price. Does anyone think that it might go cheaper on Blitz day. I want it but just not sure if it is the right time to buy it. Also not sure if I should be buying for myself now anyway. I should be saving for Christmas...;)
  6. Fisher Price has a personal mp3 player at Wal-Mart and I am sure at other stores. It is about $60.00 at Wal-Mart. It has headphones I don't know the age it is set for but it is Fisher Price and they are usually durable. If you get anything that is electronic always make sure that it has a volume switch or a headphone connection.
  7. My nephew is at the stage where I now have no idea what to get him. I don't like to give gift cards and/or cash because of his mother (she's the type that will spend it and my nephew will get nothing out of it) He doesn't have his driver's license yet so nothing car-related will work. He just quit the football team this year so I am at a complete loss. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I know the feeling I have family that we had to think of ways to get the kids stuff that was not returnable and forget about money or gift cards. We even would worry about getting anything and giving a gift receipt because they would just take it back. So we couldn't get clothes because they might not fit. We ended up taking tags and identifying marks off of the gifts that we gave so they wouldn't know where to take it back to. In the end we couldn't take the kids to the store because they would either have to lie or the parents would take the stuff back. The one thing that seemed work was buying stuff that they could not take back without a receipt and even if they did they would only get the same thing back (DVDs,Video games, software, anything electronic usually is this way). You just have to open them first. I would say the best was spending time either doing something like Amusement Park or some such. Favorite Restaurant. They wouldn't get to do anything with their parents because they wouldn't spend the money on the kids. Things have gotten better so I hope that happens in your situation just keep your nephew in your thoughts and tell him that you love him when you see him. Good Luck.

  8. You might get him a subscription to his hometown newspaper especially if it is out of state. Also they have digital picture frames that show a ton of pictures on it in a slide show. I don't know the exact name of it but if you have a computer you could scan pix and put them on it and they would not have to use a lot of space for quite a few pictures. Don't know if this helps or not.
  9. madden NFL 2007 is big for X-Box. Thats on my son's list. Hes into football also. Find out what his favorite NFL team is and go from there. You could get a nice comforter in that team for example.

Does he have a computer already (you could get any extra accessories, etc for it), stereo, portable cd player,.

Cash is always good added on to a smaller gift

I wondered about Madden NFL 2007 but wasn't sure if it would be good or not. Thank you all about all the good suggestions keep them coming. I am very thankful....

  10. She's 57. Main interests are Church, Family, Tennis (She has all the gear already) and she's putting herself threw school right now.

She has a gym membership :) Not really into crafts, she only ever does them when I go to visit.

I know the feeling about finding something for a mother. My wife's mother is real hard to get for. One Christmas we got her a bread maker because she was always making rolls and she complained about her hands and arms hurting when she kneeded the dough. Thought it was a stroke of genuis. She gave it back to us saying she just didn't think that she would use it. Then one day she asked for it and has used it ever since. My wife is going to college herself. The one thing that she uses a lot is her laptop and the internet. Don't know if she has one or not. If she has a computer she might like a digital camera. But either way I admire her for going back to school that takes guts. I am so proud of my wife. To be a mother or grandmother and go to college it just is great.

  11. I see people walking out the door with three or more tvs every year. It is rather shocking to watch them go. I remember when they did the DVD players and people were ripping the plastic off of them in a frenzy. Saw one lady fill up two carts with them and her son had 4 tvs set aside. Scary!

It is scary to watch them go get all those deals I really think that they should limit the amount that people should be able to buy of the big items. Also when you see those people at the start running it just looks almost like a riot.

  12. I shop at which ever has a better price (Best Buy, Circuit City). I just don't expect customer service. I have had bad service at both of them. Best Buy usually is better. Circuit City is usually a ghost town. I can't find someone to help me and when I do they just go to the same area I was at and glance and say they must not have it. The whole time I am thinking to myself why in the heck did I ask. It seems like everytime they have no idea. Anymore I just try to not expect customer service. Sad state of affairs I would say.
