  1. Ordered the blue one from Amazon - my older 2 have the black DSI's and love them, number 3 will be ecstatic! No tax, free shipping, works out cheaper than Target for me when you factor in tax. (I wouldn't include the 10/100 since I have other shopping that will get me over that 100 anyway!) Not to mention it's one less thing to "fight" the crowds for!
  2. 1. In your opinion, what store had the best Black Friday ad last year (2008) and why?

Target - Video Game Rocker, DVD's, Wii games, PJ sets, Toys

    2. What would be your #1 piece of advice to someone totally new to Black Friday?]

While I highly recommend going with someone, don't ask someone to go who doesn't deal well with crowds, doesn't understand the thrill of the bargain hunt and doesn't realize that early BF is not the time to browse!

    3. Besides offering great deals, what else can a store do to get you to shop there on BF?

The Target I was at last year (by my parents house in NJ) handed out store maps that had a lot of the BF specials marked - like the big cardboard DVD displays in the front of the girls dept and the video rockers in a corner of the boys dept. The year prior, another Target (also in NJ) gave out reusable shopping bags with a few Archers Farm samples in it.

  3. ###Magic Treehouse Boxed Sets (1-4 & 5-8) $3.58

###First Look & Find Books - Wonder Pets & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse $1.74

    ###Large Sound Book - Bolt - $3.24

###Soupy Saturdays with the pain & the great one - hardcover kids Judy Blume book - $2.92

    ###Genuine Chamois - 5 ft - $4.78

###Fireplace Arbor Tool Set $7.48 & Arbor Log Bin $6.24

###Bad Boy Heartbreak Power Ballads CD $2.24

The CD is original artists and it's cheaper than buying individual MP3's so I couldn't pass it up, LOL!

  4. Either $10 gas giftcards or a variety of gifcards - gas, fast food, coffee, Target, etc. If you want to spend all the money you're allotted, some of the gift cards could be worth more assuming they're all just randomly handed out somehow.
  5. Up until last year my two brothers, my sister and I all chipped in for a gift for my parents. Last year my brothers did their own thing but my sister and I still went in together.

    Over the years we've bought:

2 weekends at Bed & Breakfasts (different years, one in upstate NY, one in PA - my parents are in NJ)

    New TV

Cash to put toward the new stove they were buying during kitchen remodel

Glider Rocker for Mom, Stereo that played everything from LP's to CD's for Dad

    Digital Camera

AMEX gift card for dinner, pair of tickets to Broadway show (I don't even remember what they saw...that was the first year we all started chipping in together!)

  6. cheese but it doesnt work like the commercial

    ROFL!!!

We leave homemade cookies (choc. chip, oatmeal raisin or sugar cookies....or a combo of them) and milk. We have a special "cookies for Santa" plate that I bought at Dollar Tree years ago.

  7. When we just had my oldest, we decorated his Little Tikes Log Cabin (indoor toy at the time) and took his pic by that.

Usually, I just get a casual pic of the boys. One year it was a pic from our Disney trip in October. Another year, it was my 2 oldest in their football uniforms (same team...that was so nice only dealing with one practice schedule!) and my 7 year old (4 at the time) in a team t-shirt and green hair gel looking like a huge fan after one of their games. Two years ago, we took the pic at a Christmas party we went to. Santa was already gone so my oldest held the baby in Santa's chair and the other 2 stood next to him.

  8. I also just randomly give presents (DVDs, $20 gas cards...etc) for random people in December. I see someone doing something nice and give them a gift. Holding a door open for someone, a cashier who looks exhausted but still managed to treat the customer nice, returning the shopping cart to the cart corral...etc

That's awesome. Last year I was the recipient of a random act of kindness. I was looking at wrapping paper in Walmart with my then 18 month old and an older woman came down the aisle so I apologized for blocking the aisle and moved the cart. She stopped and handed me a card and said I'd like you to have a wonderful holiday, I give cards out every year to people I come across while I'm out and about during the holidays. She told me not to open it until she left. I thought it was a little weird, but opened it after I finished picking out my wrapping paper and was surprised to find a gift card for a local supermarket for $50 inside a Christmas card.
